Therefore, do not allow the teaching of the Dharma to be stopped. Even if the Sangha is gathered, the teaching of the Dharma should not be stopped. Even if there is a room, move there and teach the Dharma. If the elder arrives first and sits silently for a moment, say, 'Will the Dharma be taught here, or should someone else be appointed?' Let the Bhikshu speak the Dharma. When teaching the Dharma, the elder should arrive first, sit on the throne without speaking for a moment, and then teach the Dharma. Or appoint a Bhikshu who knows the Dharma to teach. When teaching, listen and rejoice in the Dharma. When teaching the Dharma, teach according to the scriptures, correctly and clearly, and rejoice in it, praise it, and be happy. If it is not so, then stop it. If the Dharma teacher teaches incorrectly or perversely, or speaks something that is not in accordance with the Dharma, then oppose and stop it. If a householder comes there, speak about the Dharma. When teaching the Dharma on the nights of the six periods, if householders and others come to listen and watch, then teach and explain the Dharma. If someone interrupts the meditation, strictly restrain them with punishment, but do not teach with anger and quarrels. When teaching the Dharma, if someone meditates and seeks excuses and refutes, do not fight or scold, but use cover-ups, backstabbing, distorting facts, or suppressing with words, use verbal punishment to restrain them, conquer them with words, and thus make them sincerely submit, do not quarrel or be angry. Do not lead the retinue away. While the Dharma is being taught, the elder should not lead his students away. When teaching the Dharma, do not pull people away from the listening crowd and take them aside, do not speak about internal affairs of the Sangha. If they themselves want to come and listen to the Dharma, let them enter the door of the Dharma. If the elder leaves because of something, and the students follow him after listening to the Dharma, then you should stop them and let them go to listen to the Dharma. If they do not want to listen to the Dharma, do not force them. If someone asks to teach the Dharma, because it is disrespectful to the Dharma, then you should teach. Enter with respect and humility, regarding the other person as the master. The Dharma teacher should also not be arrogant, but should consider the Buddha and Arhats as the masters of the Dharma, they are worthy of offering and respect, and that he himself is the servant of all sentient beings, thinking in this way to subdue pride. Those who listen to the Dharma should also regard the Dharma teacher as the master of the Dharma.

Because he is the teacher, he should be treated with respect and served. Explain carefully. When the preacher is preaching, he should concentrate his mind and energy without making mistakes, just like a scripture that is not lazy. The Dharma should be taught with respect. The preacher should also cultivate respect by preaching the Dharma in a solemn and dignified manner, and should not use strong or slow words. Do not be distracted. When the preacher is preaching, he should not let his mind run to meat, wine, gold, silver, property, and previous household behaviors, but should concentrate on preaching. Use words that can liberate the lineage. When preaching, do not speak the words without beginning or end, mixed together, but divide them into sections and clearly distinguish the details. Do not preach in a jumping manner, and the preacher should not cut off a scripture in the middle before it is finished, and then start from the beginning of another scripture. It should be gradual. First talk about merit, then talk about hell and evil. Then talk about the consequences of karma and the consequences of Nirvana in order. Be compassionate. When preaching, do not have hatred, but treat with compassion, and do not generate anger. Because of compassion, you should think of guiding incomparably, and then preach. With a mind free from impurities. The preacher should not preach the Dharma with a mind full of impurities in order to be respected, to gain profit, and to obtain wealth. Be happy, greedy, and content. The listener should also be happy with the preacher, and should not be satisfied with listening only once, but should be greedy for listening and learning more, and should rejoice and be content with the Dharma preached. Even if you do not understand, you should not stop because of the meaning. When preaching, if you forget the words, or pause to think and observe like coughing or spitting, then continue to preach. If the lineage of preaching is not finished, if the latecomer does not come, let the latecomer wait until the end. Preach the Dharma with sound. If you feel happy when preaching, there is nothing wrong with preaching the Dharma with a beautiful voice. Stand up and explain in detail. When the preacher is about to leave after finishing preaching, if someone comes to ask for Dharma, there is nothing wrong with preaching while standing. Guide to meaningful conversations. Even if the scriptures are briefly explained, they should be explained with rich words.
