Welcome him. If you cannot, welcome him at five bow-lengths (distance). If you cannot welcome him at three and a half krosa (approximately seven kilometers), welcome him at about five bow-lengths. Welcome him with three (methods), or half a krosa, or one bow-length, or half a bow-length, or with a fence, or with gentle words, and then take his bowl and Dharma robes. If you cannot welcome him as you would an elder, welcome him at half a krosa, which is four bow-lengths, and if you cannot welcome him there either, welcome him just outside the fence. When welcoming him, be smiling and radiant, and say, "Have you come in peace?" Say this, and then take his bowl and Dharma robes, etc., and welcome him. Bathe him. When welcoming someone who has come from afar, scrub his body and apply oil. The Sangha should also receive oil. When welcoming someone who has come from afar, the Sangha should also treat him with good food and give him oil, etc., to anoint his body. Give away things that have been abandoned, etc. Whether you invite someone who holds the Sutras, Vinaya, and Abhidhamma, or whether he comes on his own, give him servants and attendants, etc., just as you would invite someone who knows the Pratimoksha. Listening to the Dharma is also the same. If a Khenpo or wise person comes from afar, treat him with respect and make him happy, and in order for him to stay permanently, set up a writing place and provide him with food and lodging. If a Bhikshu is jealous of someone who upholds the teachings, he will fall. When welcoming and treating with respect a learned Bhikshu who has come from afar, if another learned person becomes jealous, then one of the types of people to be jealous of is to show respect, as it says in the root text of the Buddha's teachings. On the one hand, because he alone possesses the words taught by the Buddha, he is worthy of respect, and if jealousy arises towards him, it will become a sin, so do not do it, and advise him in this way. If the Posadha has not been done, do not leave your dwelling on that day. On the day of the Posadha, and when coming out of the precepts, if you have not done the Posadha and the Karma of the precepts, do not leave, and if you leave, there is an offense. That is, on that very day, it is not extensive learning. If there is a reason why you cannot avoid going, and if the place you are going to has the ritual and recitation of the Posadha and coming out of the precepts, even if you go without doing them, there is no offense. For those who are fighting, if you think that you will eventually meet someone who is virtuous and pure, it is also acceptable. When we are dwelling, the Bhikshu

If someone is quarrelsome and always arguing and disagreeing, if he wants to go to a monastic community that has discipline and does not quarrel, even if he goes without doing the Uposatha, there is no fault. Do not go from a monk who has sacred discipline to a monk who is fighting. If a monk has discipline and does not quarrel, but his living supplies are not good, even if a quarrelsome monk has good and abundant living supplies, do not abandon the disciplined monk and go to the abode of the quarrelsome, but stay with the disciplined monk. Do not go from a place with monks to a place without monks, because going from a place where monks have discipline and abide to a place without discipline is like going to a place without monks. In short, do not go from a temple with monks to a temple without monks, a place that is empty. Unless it is for a complete reason, or for some other reason, or for the comfort of body and mind. As mentioned later, places where it is not allowed to go, such as the entire monastic community leaving together, or life being threatened, or losing the discipline of practice, or being upset and sad, or the country and city, or the body becoming ill, if these situations occur, even if one goes to the quarrelsome monk or to the empty temple, there is no fault. Do not allow a resident who has not done the Uposatha and (discipline) to leave. If a disciple and retinue say they are leaving without doing the Uposatha and the arising of discipline, then do not let the resident get angry. If he gets angry, there is a fault. If because of such a physical reason, he has the (ability) to show sacred discipline, then order him to move to a certain place. Do not let the disciple and retinue leave alone, if there is a situation where the body and life are threatened, or just losing the discipline of practice, if in the other place there are monks with and without discipline, or there are those who do and do not do the Uposatha mixed together, then be with the monks who have discipline and do the Uposatha, and do the Uposatha. Order him to arise from the discipline and then leave, even if he is sent away like this, there is no fault. Do not violate this order, as mentioned later in the sutra, let the wise one order and send him away, and the disciple should listen and act like the order of the Khenpo. Examination is for the future arrival.
