It is also hoped to be so. Like the appendix of the Vinaya, confess to the pure bhikshu alone. If there is no pure bhikshu alone, recite the general mantra of downfall, and even reciting the Pratimoksha can become pure. Even with less than four people, the affairs of the monastery can be stabilized. If the Sangha is not complete, that is, if less than four bhikshus gather, the place for holding the Posadha should be prepared and exhortations should be made as if the Sangha were numerous. The method of exhortation and action will be explained below. Do not abandon the laying of the seat. Even if the Sangha is not complete, the seat and so on should be laid as if the Sangha were numerous, and the details will be explained below, including brooms, dusters, and the cleaning bucket and perfume used by very young bhikshus. Prepare the lion throne and seat. Offer lamps and the means for teaching the Dharma. Sit in a high place and look around in all directions. Even if the Sangha is not complete, these things mentioned above should be done according to the Dharma, observing whether a bhikshu is coming from elsewhere, and then sit down. If you see a bhikshu, say this: 'Venerable, please come quickly.' If you are sitting like the appendix of the Vinaya, and you see a bhikshu coming from elsewhere, say: 'Venerable, please come quickly.' Express it with the words 'When will the Sangha's Posadha be held today, it is the fifteenth day.' The meaning of the words 'come quickly' is that because it is time to hold the Sangha's Posadha, or it is time to hold it according to the Dharma, so say 'come quickly.' Even if there are less than four people, you can dedicate the merit. If there are less than four bhikshus, only three people, they should also observe each other's faults, establish a witness and abide. Abide until dawn. If there are less than four bhikshus, observe and then abide, if a bhikshu comes from elsewhere, abide until dawn. If he does not come, observe first. You should also abide alone. When holding the Posadha, if there are no other bhikshus, only yourself, you should visualize that there is an Arhat present, and then observe your own faults and abide. If you are with others, approach the remaining (bhikshus). When holding the Posadha, abide with a friend, come and join, and even if there are still less than four people, you should observe each other and abide. If there are not many bhikshus, only two people, you should sit close together, you sit like this, I sit like this, and observe each other.

The third one should stay there. If there are not enough four monks, but only three, they should stay until dawn. In the future, all three should sit on the throne, observe, and then stay. Similarly, the appearance of the fourth one is also the same. At the time of the Uposatha, if there are four monks, it is permissible to hold the Uposatha and recite the Pratimoksha Sutra. At the time of ordination, if there are not enough five monks, it is not permissible to perform the Karma of ordination. They should observe each other and think that the number will be complete at the time of ordination next year. When explaining the Pratimoksha Sutra, if it is known that he is not present, he should not stay for the Uposatha. If he is illiterate, cannot recite the Pratimoksha Sutra, and does not know the rituals, he should not wait until the time of the Uposatha, but go to or search for someone who knows how to recite the Pratimoksha Sutra. Whoever transgresses these should not be ordained. If he cannot recite the Pratimoksha Sutra and does not know the rituals, even if he is ordained, he must renounce it. Therefore, he should not be ordained, but go to search. Do not keep the previously taken ordination. If the person who previously took ordination, who could recite the Pratimoksha Sutra and knew the rituals, has died, or left, or has returned to lay life, he should not keep the ordination, but go to search for someone who knows. At the latest, it should not exceed two months. If the person who later took ordination, who knew how to recite the Pratimoksha Sutra, has died or is no longer present, he should keep the precepts for two months, and then renounce them, and go to search for someone who knows the precepts and rituals. Search for explanations on how to abandon property, activities, acquisitions, and servants. If he does not know the Pratimoksha Sutra, when inviting him, he should be placed in a good room, and he should not be involved in offerings and the affairs of the Sangha. The food and offerings of the Sangha, etc., should be offered as to others. Monks and lay people should offer servants, and houses should be built to invite him. From under the holder of the Sutras, he should be greeted with umbrellas, banners, and flags. Even if a learned holder of the Sutras has not been invited, if it is heard that he is coming from elsewhere, he should be respected, offered to, and greeted with the names mentioned above. The same applies to the holder of the Vinaya and the Matrika. Even if he has not been invited from elsewhere, if it is heard that a holder of the Vinaya and the Matrika is coming, he should be greeted in the same way as the holder of the Sutras. The distance is two and a half yojanas. The distance of greeting is two and a half yojanas.
