Completely surround. All places where the Sangha performs Uposatha through the karma of request and supplication become things that have been completed and born. Its outer boundary is determined by measurement. If the Uposatha house has walls, water, and garbage, etc., it should be separated by one fathom (approximately two meters) in the middle, and it should be built cleanly, spaciously, and without playfulness. The Sangha should rejoice. When building the Uposatha house, ask the wishes of all the Sangha and where it is appropriate to build. Karma should also be performed there. In that Uposatha house, the karma of arising from the precepts, entering the precepts, and receiving full ordination, etc., should also be performed there. Demarcate the boundary. For the convenience of the Sangha's residence, the boundary is demarcated. At the end of two and a half kroshas (approximately eleven kilometers). Demarcating the boundary means that if there are water and other boundaries obstructing in the middle, it can be demarcated within two and a half kroshas. Stones, walls, pillars, wet wood, fences, garbage, paths, and drinking water, etc., should be announced by a monk who knows the directions to which each points in front of the Sangha, this is the sign of the Dharma, and karma should be performed. The sign of demarcating the boundary is to establish the boundary from the things mentioned in these names, gather all the Sangha, let everyone know, and demarcate it through the karma of request and supplication. The sign of the boundary is that it is enough to establish one in each of the four directions. If it is allowed not to be separated from the robes there, after demarcating the boundary, if the elderly and sick monks who cannot bear to be separated from the robes, if the Sangha allows not to be separated from the robes, they will not become separated from the robes. By doing this, the elderly and sick monks request not to be separated from the robes, but cannot bear it. If it is true, the Sangha should grant permission. For all, the mandala should be surrounded. If the previous boundary is not released, the boundary demarcated inside will not arise. If the previously demarcated boundary is not released, even if the subsequent boundary is demarcated, it will not become a demarcated boundary. Release the boundary. Two boundaries can be demarcated or released with one word. If two boundaries are demarcated separately and are close to each other, then weave a rope in the middle so that both boundaries are pressed by the rope. On both sides, there are Sanghas standing, and a Bhikshu sits in the middle, making requests and supplications, then two boundaries can be demarcated with one word. The release can also be done in the same way. The boundary of a place where the boundary has not been demarcated by karma

It is a wall! If the boundary is not demarcated by supplication and request, then the outside of the monastery is included within the boundary. Also, where the water from the eaves falls. If there is nothing outside the monastery, then the traces of the water from the eaves of the house falling outside are also included within the boundary. For a village, the boundary is the edge. If residing in a city, then any of the three—a fence, a mound, or a moat—can be used as a boundary, and what flows, etc., has been explained above. For a monastery, the boundary is the extent of a yojana in each direction. If residing in a monastery and not separated by another boundary in between, then up to one yojana is included within one's own boundary. It is the object of the Uposatha, i.e., included in the place. When gathering for the Uposatha, everyone residing within one boundary must be present, and the boundary must be demarcated. If faith is given, then the gathering is accomplished by these. When gathering for the Uposatha, a sick or elderly person cannot come to the gathering; if they offer faith, it is as if they have attended, and the Uposatha can be performed. It is not for demarcating the boundary. At the time of demarcating the boundary, even a sick or elderly person cannot offer faith; it must be taken in a vessel, or the Sangha must go to the sick person to demarcate the boundary. From giving the precepts, it arises or is examined. When demarcating the boundary, if something different is taken from giving the precepts, then it is acceptable in the action and is also included in offering faith. In that case, if the perception of a bhikshu is established. Taking faith from giving the precepts, initially, when giving the precepts, if the perception of a bhikshu is established, then it is necessary to take faith; if the perception is not established, then it is not necessary to take faith, it is also said. When taking faith, if one thinks that he is not a bhikshu, then it is not included in taking faith, and it cannot be done as an action, it is also said. It is not given. If someone who has been given the precepts comes to take faith, then faith is not given. Giving to a madman is not urgent. If a bhikshu is a madman or confused, and there is a sudden departure when doing something, then if the Sangha gives permission without gathering by the action of supplication and request and without taking faith, then the action can be done even without taking faith. Giving complete purity is unique. If someone comes to take faith, then the words of offering faith are: I am free from obstructive dharmas, and I also trust the action done by the Sangha. If one does not say "I am pure," then there will be faults, and doubt will arise. If one does not say "pure," then there will be doubt whether there are obstacles.
