Do not repeatedly say, and without being specially invited, do not say, "I will accept your offerings for life and provide food regularly." If it exceeds four months, even eating the remaining food is an offense. If it exceeds four months, residing in the house of a patron and eating food, even without mentioning any of these names, it is an offense. If eating food for more than four months, each time it is an offense. Begging is a fault. If begging for food from a layperson who is not a relative, it is a fault at the time of begging, and eating it is an offense. Begging is a fault, and eating it is an offense. There is no offense when one is sick. A sick person can beg and eat whatever food they desire without fault. It is the same for relatives. There is no fault in begging from and eating with relatives. If one is drunk, it is handled separately from the previous situation. If a monk accepts a four-month term set by a patron, but renounces the precepts before the term is up, or recovers from drunkenness and re-accepts the precepts, even if the term set by the patron is not up, eating food again will be an offense each time. This is because the act of inviting is wrong. Like the supplement to the Sutra Pitaka, if a term is set and one has previously accepted an invitation, but renounces the precepts or leaves drunk before the term is up, and later accepts an invitation again, it is an offense because one goes to beg from the patron. It is the same even if no one has invited before. If the patron says, "We do not have the habit of always eating good things, we will offer you as we eat," but if the monk says, "I want this," and begs for good things to eat, it is an offense. Because one has accepted the invitation, one should be very respectful. The offense of residing for more than four months without accepting an invitation is complete. Now explaining the offenses of learning. If a monk knowingly violates a precept that has been taught, it is an offense, this is the first branch. If he fully knows, it is also an offense. If the monk is a teacher and knows the precept but pretends not to know, if he says it again, it is an offense, this is the first branch. If a monk knows the precept but does not learn it, it is an offense, this is the first branch of learning. If he shows that learning is the term for taming, it is an offense, this is the first branch. If one possesses these branches, one commits the offense of re-violating the precepts of learning. If someone tells you "You should learn this," or indicates closely, then the monk...

If a monk is admonished and proclaimed for not studying and not understanding, it is the same even if it is said verbally. If a learned monk who knows the three baskets says, "Study from the words of the Vinaya," or specifically points out, "Study this," and (a monk) says, "I will not study what you teach, I will study from other scholars," and in order to belittle that learned monk, says, "I will not listen to your ignorant words," boasting in this way, he will commit a downfall. In the Sutra Pitaka, this is an act of wrongdoing. If a learned monk says, "The precepts are contained within the words of the Sutras, etc.," and then reverses himself and says, "I will not study the Sutras, etc.," this is an act of wrongdoing. This is abandoning the power gained through learning. The downfall of a monk saying, "I will not study the teachings," ends here. Next, the downfall of strife is explained: A monk participates in discussions by listening to the opinions of monks arguing, unless it is to calm the dispute. Even if the monks are fighting, If he secretly listens to the discussion of the strife, thinking, "They say this, I will use this method to respond," thinking and listening in this way, he will commit a downfall. The situation in which he will not commit a downfall is: if he secretly listens not to incite the dispute or plot conspiracies, but to mediate and calm the dispute, there is no fault. Merely hearing the sound is an act of wrongdoing. If he hears the sound of the dispute, but does not understand the content of the words, just hears the sound, it is an act of wrongdoing. "Meaning" refers to the root. If he hears the content of the words of the dispute, he will commit a downfall. If he joins in order to incite, it is the same. If he deliberately goes to listen or incite in order to incite the dispute, he will commit a downfall. If he encounters it because of other matters, and under the feeling, he does not make footsteps, bell sounds, or coughs, etc., to make people aware, or because of confusion, or not to calm the dispute, he will commit a downfall. If he did not go to listen to the dispute on purpose, but because of other matters, he went, and when he went, he happened to encounter someone fighting, making coughing sounds, footsteps, or bell sounds, etc., and listened without making people aware, he will commit a downfall. If he is drunk or mentally confused and loses his memory, comes to drive away the disputants, or to calm the dispute,
