If one takes from (the food), one will commit a downfall, this is one branch. Without saying "take whatever you like." If it is distributed on time, without saying "take what you want," one will commit a downfall, this is considered one branch for the latter part of the Sutra and the second part. It is the householder's (food). If the food distributed on time is also the householder's, one will commit a downfall, this is one branch. Cooked rice, in the center of the village, according to the rule, one can take five and a half "Sata" of rice, including dishes and vegetables, to share with friends, this is the allocated food. If the householder says "take the food," distributed on time, then besides the cooked rice, dishes and vegetables, five and a half "Sata" can also be given to other friends, and it is not a fault to take it for eating together. If one takes more than five and a half "Sata," one will commit a downfall, this is one branch. More than five and a half "Sata," up to two "Sata," then a large bowl can be filled; five and a half "Sata," then a medium bowl can be filled; one "Sata," then a small bowl can be filled, that is, one can take according to the size of the large, medium, and small bowls, but one cannot take three times the amount of a large bowl beyond that. Eating (the food) is also the same. If one eats the food that was distributed on time and taken in excess, one will commit a downfall, this is one branch. Taking (the food) is also the same. If the food distributed on time is taken away from that place, one will commit a downfall, this is one branch. Branches If one possesses these, one will commit a downfall. There, one commits a misdeed. If the food distributed on time is taken away after taking more than the measured amount, one commits a misdeed while walking. It is the same if someone else does it. If the food distributed on time is given to someone else to take, and one eats it after arriving at another place, one commits a misdeed. There is no fault in another place. If, after distributing on time, one does not take it to another place, but eats it in that place, there is no fault even if one eats it in the bowl. It is also the same if there is no gathering. If uncooked food is given as a reason, there is no fault no matter how much one takes. There is a fault in other cases, which will be explained elsewhere. If a lot of food is taken, it should be shared with the monks. If one takes less than five and a half "Sata," and one cannot finish it alone, the remainder should be shared and eaten with other monks. Taking more than filling two or three bowls. In short, taking more than filling two or three bowls, the downfall is complete. Next, the downfall of eating is explained. One can eat until dawn. When eating food, do not leave the seat.

If one takes and starts to eat tsampa, it is an offense to get up even before the tsampa has entered the mouth. No matter how much they take, even if it is just salt. If one eats a little and then sits down again to eat, one commits a downfall. One has already given up the dwelling and finished eating. If one gets up in the middle of eating tsampa, even if one thinks of eating later, if one sits down again to eat, one commits a heavy downfall.
