Chapter One. Origin. If a Bhikshu is expelled from a monastery, it becomes an offense, this is one branch. Others too. If one causes another to expel a Bhikshu, it also becomes an offense. For the sake of others too. If another causes me to be expelled, or if I myself expel, it becomes an offense, these two Sutras each have one branch. If it is a monastery, and possesses these five branches, it becomes an offense. Bhikshunis, Shramaneras (male) and Shramaneris (female) commit minor offenses. Shikshamanas, Shramaneris and Shramanas, if they cause a Bhikshu to be expelled, causing a Bhikshu to be expelled is an offense, Shramanas commit minor offenses. These too. Shikshamanas, Shramaneris and Shramanas, if they expel, commit minor offenses. In jest too. Not expelling from the heart, but expelling for the sake of jest, it is a minor offense. Among householders, there are many who are not meritorious. If one entrusts a householder to expel a Bhikshu, the Bhikshu commits an offense, the householder does not have the order of offenses, but it is a great sin. Expulsion. The offense of expulsion, completed. Now explaining the offense of later suppression. Alas. In the monastery of the Sangha, if it is known that a Bhikshu previously resided, this is one branch. The resident, having previously resided and dwelt in the monastery, if suppressed and expelled, it becomes an offense, this is one branch. A Bhikshu resides in the monastery of the Sangha. If I suppress and expel another Bhikshu, it also becomes an offense, this is one branch. If it is the monastery of the Sangha, suppressing from there also becomes an offense, this is one branch. Forcibly, forcibly suppressing for the sake of expelling and driving out, it becomes an offense. This is one branch. Releasing suppression due to illness and fear. If without reasons such as illness and fear, forcibly suppressing and expelling, it becomes an offense. This is one branch. Possessing these branches, it becomes the offense of later suppression. Just like this example, wanting to refute, refuting the Bhikshu. Just as speaking a contrary answer to the teaching becomes an offense, causing contrary harm to the Bhikshu also becomes an offense, just as Uda sought the fault of my disciple, saying that the bile disease of the people living in your house will spread outside

Saying "Stay in the wind" and placing it in the wind to harm, and because phlegm disease is increasing, saying "Stay in the heat" and harming in this way, and because the Sangha is afraid of thieves, in order to not excrete outside, placing tiles inside and excreting, saying "Build a temple from this," then Uda abandons the tiles, pours the large and small excrement inside and harms, and so on. Like this, in order to harm a Bhikshu, doing it in a perverse way, no matter what, one commits a downfall. This is strong oppression. This is the downfall of subsequent oppression, it ends here. Now explaining the downfall of the nail-less bed: Sleeping on top of the Sangha's temple. Since it is the Sangha's temple, it constitutes a downfall, one branch. Sleeping on the roof of a tower, it constitutes a downfall, one branch. However, not in a tent house. In an earth house without wood, erected like a tent, sleeping in a house where the bed legs cannot penetrate, there is no downfall. Covering things on top of it is also okay. Covering with other houses, such as bamboo mats and mud, where the bed legs cannot penetrate, it will also not constitute a downfall. It is also okay if the bed legs have nails. Supporting with the nails of the bed legs and low beds, etc., so that it does not collapse, sleeping on the roof will also not constitute a downfall. Lying on one's back is also okay. Even if the bed has no nails, lying on one's back on the ground and sleeping on top of it will not constitute a downfall. Placing them separately under the feet is also okay. Even if the bed has no nails, placing bricks or wooden boards, etc., under the four legs of the bed, so that the foundation does not collapse, sleeping on top of it is also without fault. Sleeping in situations not mentioned in these Sutras will constitute a downfall, one branch. This is oppression. In order to harm the person sleeping below. Forcibly oppressing the bed, it constitutes a downfall, one branch. This is obstruction. Knowing it is the Sangha's temple, and there is someone below, it constitutes a downfall, one branch. Possessing these branches is the downfall of the nail-less bed. This is climbing on a bed with nails. The downfall of the nail-less bed ends here. Now explaining the downfall of sowing: For one's own use, other than land. For the use of one's own body, other than water, knowingly having aquatic animals, such as shavings, mandala, and mud, etc.
