The cotton should be leveled. It should be placed evenly like that, and in any case, those cottons should be evenly distributed in all the clean parts of the cushion. In order to prevent them from scattering, the seams on the top should be sewn with stitches like crow's feet. This is the so-called concluding remark. In order to eliminate the hindrance of sleep during meditation, it is said (in the scriptures) that if one is sleepy, one should hang a "Gadobu." "Gadobu" refers to a container made of cotton, etc., similar to a water clock, but it is not a water clock. It is tied with a rope from the eyelet, and if the meditator is sleepy, he should hang that "Gadobu" on his ear and shake it. The text here is: If you are sleepy, you should hang a "Gadobu." If that still doesn't work, the Blessed One taught: Tie it with a rope, hang it on your ear and shake it. The so-called "gently touching with a stick" means that when a practitioner is drowsy, the person taking care of the practitioner should gently touch him with a stick, so gently that his mind is not disturbed. This is the job of the person taking care of the practitioner, and he can wake him up by gently touching him with a stick. In order not to make him feel pain, the (stick) should be wrapped with cloth like the cut edge of a measuring vessel. The so-called "in order not to make him feel pain, the (stick) should be wrapped with cloth like the cut edge of a measuring vessel" means that in order to prevent the stick from touching the practitioner's body, the tip of the stick should be as flat as the cut edge of a measuring vessel, and it should be wrapped with cloth, and then gently touched. Mentioning cloth is just an example, and other things such as cotton can also be used. The text here is: However, when (the practitioner) is drowsy, the Blessed One taught: Touch with a stick. The monks looked for bamboo poles, and when they touched with them, they caused injury. The Blessed One taught: It should be made like the cut edge of a measuring vessel. However, if (the practitioner) feels pain, the Blessed One taught: Wrap it with cloth, and then gently, little by little, touch it. The so-called "throwing a pebble" means that when a practitioner is drowsy, the person taking care of the practitioner should throw a pebble. The so-called "to be able to pick it up again, it should be tied with a rope" means that in order to be able to pick up that pebble again, it should be tied with a rope.
