For this reason, if the meditation hall cannot accommodate the meditators, then a large house should be built on top of it. Or, the phrase "also build upstairs" is used in conjunction with "build." In these two sutras, some scriptures say that because those cannot be accommodated there, the Blessed One taught: Build a large house on top. Some scriptures say that because those cannot be accommodated there, the Blessed One taught: Build a second floor on top. This is a combination of these two, because these two are not contradictory, so it is briefly described here. The phrase "stairs for climbing" is used in conjunction with "build," meaning to build stairs there for climbing. The phrase "to prevent people from falling, surround it with a railing" is used in conjunction with the stairs, meaning to surround the stairs with a railing to prevent people from falling. The phrase "to prevent it from shaking, nail it with iron nails" is to prevent the railing from shaking, and to nail it with iron nails. These are because it is difficult to climb at first, the Blessed One taught: Build stairs. Because of falling, the Blessed One taught: Surround it with a railing. Because it shakes, the Blessed One taught: Nail it with iron nails. This is a combination of these. The phrase "build a large meditation hall or rows of dwellings outside" is said because the word "also" is said to follow after "build." Build a large meditation hall or rows of dwellings outside the meditation hall. Here, the word "or" is to include both words. This is because although it was not said, the Blessed One taught: Build a large meditation hall outside. Some scriptures say that although it was not said, the Blessed One taught: Build rows of dwellings outside. This is a combination of these. The phrase "do not place a door directly in front of the door" means that in all dwellings, do not place another door on the north side of one door. This is because those who want the doors to become dangerous places and see each other, the Blessed One taught: The doors should be placed askew.

It is a concise compilation. The so-called "building a gatehouse" means building a gatehouse on the thatched hut. The so-called "also digging a hole" means that in order to prevent the surrounding dangers, also dig a hole in the ground and so on. The so-called "for sitting and lying down, also make earth platforms and beds" means that for sitting and lying down, also make earth platforms and beds. The so-called "that is good to be surrounded by four cubits" means that the four sides of the bed are good to be surrounded by four cubits, that is, each side of the four cubits should be made one cubit in size. This is a summary statement. The so-called "there are five kinds of weaves" means that there are five kinds of weaves woven on the top of the bed. What are the five kinds? Therefore, it is said "munja, hemp, coarse cloth, cotton cloth, and thin bamboo", which is to explain the recognized suitable materials, so munja and so on are mentioned, and it should be known that this is not to prohibit the use of ropes and so on. The so-called "there, spread the mats with cores" means that on the top of the bed, mats with cores filled with cotton and so on should be spread. The so-called "around it, it is good to have a handspan more" means that around the bed, it is good to have the edge of the mat with a core protruding a handspan. If it is made to protrude a handspan around it, then sitting and lying down will not touch the bed, and the edge of the mat with a core will not be damaged from below. Therefore, for the mat with a core, the material of four cubits long and two cubits wide should be folded in half and sewn together. This is a summary statement. If you ask what to fill in the mat with a core, therefore it is said "fill with the cotton of Arga, Kasha, Erka, Srava, and Shalmali". It is also said "it can also be filled with wool, hemp, cotton, coarse cloth, and the collection of leaves", it is best to fill with the cotton of Arga and so on. The reason for saying these is to explain the recognized suitable materials, and it is not limited to these kinds, therefore it is also possible to fill with other kapok. In order to be able to sit and lie down comfortably, crow's feet should be made in various places. The so-called "in order to be comfortable" means that inside the mat with a core, in various places, use wood
