Making or causing to make a robe exceeding this measure is a downfall. In terms of the Sugata's robe, making or causing to make a robe smaller or larger than one's own body is a misdeed. Whoever has a body equal to or exceeding the Sugata's size, making or causing to make a robe exceeding one's own five cubits and three fingers, such as three or four times, is a downfall. Making a robe less than three times but more than two times becomes a misdeed, and here it should be adjusted according to the circumstances. Here, from the basis of discussion, is there a case where making it according to the size will cause a downfall, and making it according to the size will not cause a downfall? The Blessed One said: Yes, if it is made to the size of the Sugata's robe, it is a downfall. If it is made to the size of a mandala, there is no downfall. The so-called "making it to the size of the Sugata's robe" means that making it more than three times one's own cubit will cause a downfall. The so-called "making it to the size of a mandala" means that making it smaller than one's own five cubits and three fingers will not cause a downfall, and here it should be understood as this meaning. The so-called "should not be held," the "that" refers to the Sugata's robe or exceeding the Sugata's robe. The so-called "should not be cut," whether it is connected to the body or in other cases, whether it is blessed, or distinguished, or not distinguished, it should not be cut. Here, from the basis of the robe, is it permissible for a monk to hold more than the Sugata's robe? The attendant is not allowed to hold it, it is said. The downfall of exceeding the size of the Sugata's robe has been explained.

The four things to be confessed individually should be declared. Among the things to be confessed individually for taking food from a bhikkhuni, who is the doer? Therefore, the term "knowing as the main thing" is stated. Here too, the name "knowing as the main thing" and the one named "taking recognition as the main thing" should be connected. To whom is recognition taken as the main thing? Therefore, it is said, "To a bhikkhuni who is not a relative." If the bhikkhuni is also not a relative of that bhikkhu, and the bhikkhu also knows, "This is not my relative," then taking recognition as the main thing is for the one who is not a relative. If one acts in accordance with what, then that is the doer? Therefore, it is said, "Food and drink obtained without going oneself, and eating after taking it while dwelling in the village." For a bhikkhuni who is not a relative, whether dwelling in the village or anywhere else, the bhikkhu himself who causes the occurrence of downfall by obtaining and offering food and drink in a manner of not going with one's own hands, if he dwells in the village and takes food and drink with his own hands, and eats while dwelling in any place where they are located, then it becomes a matter of individual confession for taking food from a bhikkhuni, which is the final definition. Therefore, if a bhikkhu dwells by the roadside and takes food and drink from a bhikkhuni dwelling anywhere, then that is the actual situation. Similarly, if a bhikkhu does not dwell by the roadside, and takes food and drink from a bhikkhuni dwelling by the roadside, then it becomes a misdeed. If a bhikkhu dwells in a monastery and takes food and drink from a bhikkhuni dwelling in the village, then there is no downfall. Even so, here the text says that if a bhikkhu dwells in the summer retreat of a bhikkhuni, and the bhikkhuni dwells in the village, strives to obtain food and drink, and then takes and eats from the one dwelling there, what downfall would there be? There is no downfall, it is said. The opposite of that is a misdeed. Some say that both the giver and the receiver dwell by the roadside.

The offense is complete. If one limb is incomplete, it is a minor offense. If both limbs are complete, there is no downfall, they say. The summer dwelling is not a village, the treatise says that there is no downfall from begging, which is exactly what was said before. The bhikkhu's residence is also not a village. Here the treatise is, from begging, if a bhikkhu, to a bhikkhuni who is not a relative, enters another's house to beg for food, cooks and eats it, is there any downfall? Yes, because the bhikkhu lives in the residence, taking from the bhikkhuni who lives in another's house, it is said. The sky is only half, meaning, living in the sky above the village, taking and eating, one will commit a minor offense. If the one who places it does not live nearby, taking the placed food is not taking it from her, meaning, the bhikkhuni who places the food, whatever food, if that bhikkhuni who places the food in the village puts the food in the village and then leaves, and then does not live nearby, then that bhikkhu takes the food from that village, but it is not taken from the one who placed it. Here the treatise is, if the food that the bhikkhuni placed in the village, the bhikkhu takes and eats it because of attachment, there is no downfall, it is said. If one takes it not because of attachment, then one will also commit the offense of taking what is not given. The Pratimoksha of taking food from a bhikkhuni, this is the first, has been said. If one allows food to be distributed in order, who is the one who commits the Pratimoksha of eating without preventing it? Therefore, to the bhikkhu or other bhikkhus, saying, 'Give me this food, drink, beans, or food,' etc., the bhikkhuni who participates in the persuasion is the offender, it is said. 'He or' means, the bhikkhu who wants to speak of causing the downfall. 'To the bhikkhu' means, to any other of the bhikkhunis. 'Give me this food' to 'Give me food' and 'Give me more' etc., refers to the act of persuasion.
