So, what are those transformations? Except for those that have been explained, which do not lead to downfall and require confession, what are the remaining things spoken of in the two Pratimoksha vows of monks and nuns? For example, vowing to stay in one place for the summer retreat, performing the Uposatha, performing the Pravāraṇā, and so on. I am an unordained renunciate who has not yet received full ordination, and the basis of my training is in complete accordance with this. If it is transgressed or violated, it is a mental offense, and it will lead to a binding offense. This is the so-called 'summary.' The word 'gathering' means to collect those offenses that arise from the forty aspects, such as signs, bowls, containers, etc., which belong to the category of binding offenses. What arises from these forty aspects? What arises from the basis of signs, what arises from the basis of bowls, what arises from the basis of containers, what arises from the basis of enjoyment, what arises from the basis of wandering, what arises from the basis of desire, what arises from the basis of harm, what arises from the basis of dwelling, what arises from the basis of disrespect, and what arises from the basis of non-training. What arises from these faults, bases, causes, and conditions is what arises from the basis of signs, etc. Those that belong to the category of binding offenses are in accordance with this, and should be connected to 'it will lead to a mental offense.' So, what arises from the basis of signs, and is in accordance with what? For example, taking the correct sign of renunciation, which has already been taken. Therefore, holding the sign of a non-Buddhist, just like holding the sign of a householder, is a transgression of correctly taking the sign of renunciation, and therefore it will lead to an offense of confession. Holding and making robes made of unsuitable materials, such as sheep's wool, etc., and items that are too large or too small, and nail decorations that are not allowed, and those that will spoil the appearance, such as cutting hair with large scissors, and those that are not allowed...
