One should not allow those who have not taken the vows of a Bhikṣuṇī to enter the Bhikṣuṇī's monastery. If a Bhikṣu allows her to enter, what should be done? Therefore, one should say, "If you are not ill, I will allow you to enter." If she has no disputes with the Bhikṣus, she should be allowed to enter. Should it be allowed in this way? Therefore, it should be said, "It must be ascertained through questioning that she has no disputes." The meaning of the question is to show that the Bhikṣuṇī has no disputes or conflicts. The chapter on the correct arrangement of the residence is complete. Now, the chapter on laying out the beds and complete preparation will be discussed. Crossbars, pivots, wheel bolts, latches, and crooked keys are properly installed to close the monastery, that is, to prepare for closing the doors of the monastery, etc. Mentioning the latch also includes the bolt. Here, the scripture is what the Blessed One said: "Bhikṣus, these five are used for closing. Which five? Crossbars, pivots, wheel bolts, latches, and crooked keys. If they are in the monastery, all should be kept by the Karmadāna." In the Vibhaṅga, it is also said that the elder Bhikṣu of the Saṅgha should ask the Karmadāna, "Venerable one, have you closed the doors? Have you inspected each monastery?" In the Mātṛka, it is also said that the Blessed One allowed the Bhikṣus to use crooked keys to protect their residences. The Karmadāna should close the monastery in the evening and inspect it, that is, the Karmadāna should close the doors of the monastery, etc., in the first watch of the night.

Therefore, sleeping and entering into meditative equipoise should definitely be avoided, otherwise one will fall into reliance. There, one should inquire whether the abbot of the sangha has made a pledge with the steward. That is to say, in that monastery, the abbot of the sangha should speak of the pledge made with the steward regarding closing the doors, etc. If those properly joined (things) are not bound, and the monastery is lost, then the steward should be made to compensate. That is to say, if the five binding things such as crossbars are not properly bound to the doors of the monastery, etc., and thieves cause the monastery to be lost, then the steward should be made to compensate for whatever items are lost. This is the term called 'to collect debt from the steward.' How much they have damaged, that much portion should be compensated. That is to say, for the sake of binding, if one or more, or many of the properly joined crossbars, etc., have not completed the binding and caused damage, then how much of those properly joined (things) have not completed and caused damage, that much portion should be made to be compensated by the steward. If one has not bound, then one portion should be compensated. If two have not bound, then two portions should be compensated. Similarly, if three have not bound, then three portions should be compensated; if four have not bound, then four portions should be compensated. If all five have not bound, then the entire debt should be compensated. Crooked keys and door bolts should be kept. That is to say, all monks and nuns should do this. However many bindings there are, one should not leave without binding the door. That is to say, all however many binding things there are, such as crossbars, one should not leave elsewhere without binding the door. If one enters an empty place, then one should do inspections, etc., there. That is to say, if the place one enters is empty, then one should do inspections, etc., there. Utensils should be placed in their proper places. That is to say, if in the place one enters, if utensils, etc., are used without being collected, etc., then they should be collected, etc., as they were originally.
