One should not prepare a bed for oneself, nor should one take possession of it even if it is prepared by others. The saying, "One should not allow the donor to see the items offered to dispel grief," refers to the following: King Gsal rgyal offered his mother's bed to the Sangha to dispel his grief over her death. When the monks displayed it in the doorways and courtyards, the king saw it and became grieved again, hence this rule was established. Therefore, such items should not be seen by the donor. The saying, "To counteract unpleasant sounds, it should be displayed in the courtyard on the eighth and fourteenth days," refers to the following: If the items are hidden to prevent the donor from seeing them, others might say, "Those monks stole the bed," and so on. To eliminate such unpleasant sounds, accusations, quarrels, and reproaches, as a remedy, on the eighth and fourteenth days, etc., when the donor is absent, the bed and other items should be displayed in the courtyard and other places for others to see. The saying, "One should possess beds and low stools," means that individuals may also possess them. The saying, "To prevent damage to the floor, the bottoms of the bed legs should be made even," means to prevent damage to the smooth floor. The saying, "Or a pile of straw should be placed underneath, or it should be wrapped with cloth," means that to prevent damage to the floor, either a pile of straw should be placed under the bed legs, or the bed legs should be wrapped with cloth. The saying, "A non-Sangha member should not display ownership of a low stool with painted legs," means that a non-Sangha member should not possess a low stool with painted legs. Here, the text states: Other monks are not allowed to make low stools with colored legs themselves, but they are allowed to possess those obtained from others. The Blessed One said, 'Therefore, it is permitted for the Sangha to obtain and make low stools with colored legs.' It is not permitted for individuals in any way. The saying, "One should also not use a fine cushion with a backrest," also means that a non-Sangha member should not use items that are their own. The saying, "Fine cushion" refers to a large-sized cushion.

The so-called "cushion with a backrest" refers to a cushion with a backrest for the body. The so-called "should not make a lamp tree" means that a lamp tree in the shape of a tree, because it is a Bhikshuni, should not be possessed and used. Here, the rule is: if the Sangha obtains a lamp tree with one branch, it is also allowed. It is not allowed for individuals. It is said that two branches and many branches are the same. Some people say "many branches" means: some rules say that a lamp tree with many branches, because it is a Bhikshuni, should not be possessed and used. There is no fault in possessing some branches. The so-called "should hold a square-shaped inner cushion and an inner pillow" means: both the Sangha and individuals should do so. "Inner cushion" refers to a cushion with kapok. In order to explain the shape of the inner pillow, it is made into four cubits and one and a half cubits double-folded, and the word "sewing" is recited. The length is made into four cubits double-folded, and the width is made into one and a half cubits double-folded to sew. The so-called "filled with kapok" refers to: inner cushion and inner pillow. The so-called "should not sleep without distinguishing" means: should not sleep there without distinguishing the bed and cushion. Here, the rule is: if you want to sleep, you should distinguish them before sleeping. The so-called "should not be without mindfulness" means: should not sleep. Here, mindfulness refers to: initiating good deeds, and other aspects related to good deeds, such as getting up as the time, and mindfulness related to the body and clothes not shaking, should be known. The so-called "should not be together with others on a bed or cushion or other things" means: should not sleep. Mentioning "other" refers to including platforms, etc. The so-called "if because of shame there is none, then each should spread out the cushion, separate with a bowl or a bowl container, etc., and sleep after mindfulness" means: if a Bhikshu because of knowing shame and embarrassment, does not have different beds such as beds, then each should spread out the cushion, and use the Kasaya of
