It is said, "Named Lapao," and so on. The ritual for pacifying disputes by not selecting people has been explained. Because disputes arise from transgressions, they should be pacified through remedies. To explain the detailed classifications of what was said, because of the accompanying transgression itself, there are three types of disputes: those that have not spread, those that have spread, the second being minor, and those related to the entire Sangha. It is explained that among these, the one that has not spread is separate from residing in factions and other factions. It is stated thus: For whom is to be discussed, and the speaker, only these two have a dispute, and no one else has a dispute, that is a dispute that has not spread. The one called "minor" is when not only the one to be discussed and the speaker have a dispute, but also some who belong to the Sangha. The one called "related to the entire Sangha" is when not a single group of monks is left out, and all monks are divided into factions and other factions, becoming a dispute. From the first, remedy through the act of confession, meaning that after a dispute has arisen without spreading, the remedy for the transgression should be to remedy the transgression through the act of confession, because it can be remedied solely by the power of confession. If someone asks, why is its name established in this way? The answer is: To pacify the dispute, for which venerable one, you have committed a transgression, confess according to the Dharma. The speaker takes such a manner, for the one without dispute, remedied solely by confession, that is to pacify the dispute through the act of confession, therefore its name is said in this way. Act means what should be remedied. From the second, through direct taming, meaning that after the spread and the minor have become a dispute, remedy through direct taming. It is stated thus: From the second, what is it that remedies the fallen after becoming a dispute, that is to pacify the dispute through direct taming. Why

If asked, why is it called "Thus"? The answer is: Because all the rebuttals and answers put forward by the matter of debate, the debaters, and those who follow them are previously established, therefore it is called "Thus." Thus, the meaning of the word here is: The words of rebuttal and answer to this matter should be subdued and pacified in a clear way. It should be known that one cannot assume that a clear offering has been made to this matter simply because the debater has made a vow. The third is "Like Spreading Grass," meaning: Whatever action is taken to rectify the fall after the occurrence of the third kind of dispute is called "Like Spreading Grass," which is used to pacify the dispute. Why is it called "Like Spreading Grass"? For example, when spreading grass, all the grass lies intertwined with each other. Similarly, all the monks in the Sangha who are in different directions will pay homage to each other in order to pacify the dispute, therefore it is called "Like Spreading Grass." Regarding this matter, for the benefit of many, the matters that need to be confessed to the non-Sangha are: to be remedied by one person. It means: Apart from the serious offenses, Sanghavasesa offenses, and serious offenses belonging to Sanghavasesa offenses that need to be confessed to the Sangha, other offenses of downfall that need to be confessed to the non-Sangha, here, for the benefit of many, can be remedied by one person in the manner of "Like Spreading Grass." Thus it is taught: If one person remedies for the benefit of many, then at that time the dispute caused by the offense of downfall can also be pacified. It can also be done simultaneously, meaning: Here, for the benefit of many, multiple offenses of downfall can also be remedied simultaneously. The meaning of "Saying what it is" and "Manifesting Knowledge" is: Whatever offense of downfall you have committed, whatever offense of downfall I have committed, must be confessed before the venerable ones, without concealment, I am willing, etc., reciting such mantras, and the essence of the offense of downfall other than the name and type of the offense of downfall must be revealed and understood, and this is used to remedy it, which is the conclusion.
