Do not engage in arguments, as this is to avoid intense conflicts. The so-called "refutation is itself" means: when refuting, refuting the Sangha is itself a distinction, therefore, if refutation is carried out, there is no fault in engaging in arguments. The so-called "if you don't remember, you should remind" means: if the content of the argument is not remembered, you should remind. Reminding is an aid to the argument, therefore, as mentioned before, one should not engage in arguments at inappropriate times, one should not fail to maintain mindfulness and awareness, one should not go to extremes, one should not disallow distinguishing circumstances, and one should not do this. These things mentioned before also apply in this context of reminding. The so-called "if you don't do this, you should admonish him" means: if you don't distinguish the circumstances, you should admonish him. If you ask how to admonish, therefore it is said: O venerable one, you should be admonished, and you should not leave this place without your permission. Saying "I am ready to admonish the venerable one," what is determined to be admonished is preparation. The so-called "if he is not tamed, do not teach him" means: even if you have admonished him in this way, if he is not tamed, then at that time you should not teach him. The so-called "for him, you should also prevent idle talk, etc." means: for those who have not been taught, not only should you prevent the help brought by teaching and subsequent instructions, but you should also not give idle talk, flattering words, and words of individual joy. The so-called "even so, the recitation of vows should be stopped" means: even if it is determined that one should not speak in this way, and one has not taught, but if he has not been tamed and does not distinguish the circumstances, then at that time his recitation of vows should be stopped through supplication and four actions. The mantra is: Venerable Sangha, please listen! The monk named so-and-so, although arguing and reminding, is unable to distinguish the circumstances, therefore, you monks should not say these words.
