The last two are not offenses for the bhikkhunis. Giving hard food and the like, these ten, become offenses for the bhikkhunis. The relinquishment of what is not relinquished, that has been explained. In what case does giving hard food become something to be relinquished? Therefore, now it is said that giving hard food before the fifteenth day of the first spring month. Whatever time before the fifteenth day of the first spring month, all the bhikkhunis who give hard food will each commit a separate offense of relinquishment. How much of the sangha is formed by giving hard food, cutting off the number of the sangha, that which is obtained by the empowered one with the nature of hard food, that should be relinquished, but what is obtained by individuals from house to house should not be relinquished. The acquisition of hard food should only be relinquished in the state of not being distributed, but once distributed, there is no need to relinquish it. Because in this way, the object of acquisition has become personal, and at that time, only the offense of downfall needs to be confessed. In the case of a bhikkhuni being robbed by thieves, committing an offense is for that purpose, that is to say, when a bhikkhuni is robbed by thieves, there is no offense in giving hard food beforehand for that purpose. The relinquishment of giving hard food has been explained. In what case does not giving hard food become something to be relinquished? Therefore, it is said not to give, and it should be combined with "determining the robe." What is not giving like? When the sangha gives the determined robe, not giving help to the sangha in order to take out the determined robe, that is to say, whichever bhikkhuni does not help the sangha give the determined robe, she will commit this offense. Like this, if it is said below that not experiencing the offense of giving the determined robe, not giving help is the cause of the offense, then what is the difference between this and that? The difference in time causes a difference in the objects of the two. Like this, the fixed time for taking out the determined robe is the fifteenth day of the first spring month, so at that time, when the sangha gives the determined robe

Not giving to the Sangha becomes an offense of expiation. In front of her, in order to allow leniency for matters such as a Bhikshuni being robbed by thieves, whoever gives permanent Dharma robes, if they do not give to the Sangha, then it becomes solely an offense of expiation. The offense of expiation for not giving hard food, thus it has been explained. Whatever becomes an offense of expiation due to begging for precious things, therefore it is said to be begging for wealth and gold. Thus, in the Pratimoksha Sutra, it is mentioned as "manifest signs." Also, it is said that if a Bhikshuni begs for manifest signs for herself, it becomes an offense of expiation. But in its explanation, it is said that what is called manifest signs is wealth or gold. All of these, for the purpose of representing precious things, have no difference. Here, the word "begging" refers to first begging and then taking, because if it is not taken, there is no object to be abandoned. The three offenses of expiation—touching gold and silver, the practice of manifest signs, and engaging in trade—are established separately because there is no prior begging. There is no fault in begging and receiving for the need of a summer residence. The offense of expiation for begging for precious things, thus it has been explained. Whatever becomes an offense of expiation due to eating clothes, therefore it is said that clothes obtained for others are used as food, and therefore placed. Clothes obtained for purposes other than food, such as writing scriptures, if they are changed and used as food, and therefore placed, then it becomes an offense of expiation. The offense of expiation for eating clothes, thus it has been explained. Whatever becomes an offense of expiation due to eating the requisites for clothes, an offense of expiation due to eating the requisites for bedding, and an offense of expiation due to eating the requisites for a summer residence, therefore it is said in order, also for clothes, bedding, and a summer residence. For these three, whatever requisites are obtained, used as food, and therefore placed, then these three offenses occur. What is obtained for these three? Therefore, it is said to be any.
