Menstruation, and that which arises from sexual activity, and leaving within seven days, and the abandonment of coarse summer cloth, these four, these eleven situations do not exist for female monastics. "Do not carry an idol" means: When Pundaka went for alms in Shravasti, she saw a woman who worshiped gods carrying an idol and walking. Pundaka thought: This method is good, I will also learn it tomorrow. Afterwards, the next day, she carried the idol and entered Shravasti, protecting boys and girls. Those whom she protected became happy. At that time, all those who needed protection had Pundaka protect them and mocked the woman who worshiped gods. The World Honored One said: Therefore, female monastics should not carry idols. Protection means completely guarding and saving. An idol means: For the sake of protection, it is decorated with containers, umbrellas, flowers, etc., and filled with an image made of earth.

Because the place where it is located is extremely sacred, therefore, this fault of holding the alms bowl for more than one day is thus established. The "abandonment of forfeiture, that is, the abandonment of the alms bowl" has been explained. So, what about the abandonment of forfeiture for what is not blessed? Therefore, it is said, "For what can be blessed, bless on the first day or every half month, for what is not blessed." If one does not have any of the five types of robes that can be blessed, then on the first day when one obtains that robe, one should bless that robe. If one does not bless it on the first day, then when the first light of the second day rises, it will become an abandonment of forfeiture. Even the robe that has been blessed on the first day should be blessed every half month thereafter. If one does not bless it every half month, then when the first light of the sixteenth day rises, it will become an abandonment of forfeiture. Thus, the meaning of the words here appears as follows: If a bhikshuni does not have the five types of robes that can be blessed, then on whatever day she obtains any robe, she should bless it on that day. If she does not bless it, then when the first light of the second day rises, it will become an abandonment of forfeiture. Even the robe that has been blessed should be blessed again on the fifteenth day after that first day. If she does not bless it there, then when the first light of the sixteenth day rises, it will become an abandonment of forfeiture. That fifteenth day is established as the first day of the last half of the month. From then on, one should bless it every half month in the same way. There is no fault in blessing it beforehand, so if one blesses it during the bimonthly Uposatha, there will be no mistakes in the future. For a bhikshu, if he does not have a robe that can be blessed, even if he does not bless it on the day he obtains it, it will not become an abandonment of forfeiture because the light of one day has risen, but it will become a misdeed. There is no downfall for not blessing it every half month. For the following abandonments of forfeiture, there are also "relying on heavy robes" and "relying on light robes," etc.
