The basis of arising, gathered in due time and out of time, is complete. This is called the basis of beings, which has been explained. Now, in order to gather the basis of conduct that dwells in other places, with practices such as dwelling everywhere and pleasing practices, monks should not engage in eloquent speech, prostrations, rising to greet, joining palms, or acts of reverence when dwelling in their natural state. It is said that one should not claim these as one's own. By mentioning practices such as dwelling everywhere and pleasing practices, it also includes moving from one's place, rising again from one's place to dwell everywhere, pleasing from one's place, and rising again from one's place to engage in pleasing practices. Eloquent speech means saying "I prostrate." "Eloquent" is a word of expression, and "speech" is combined with the word "I prostrate." Prostration means bowing the body. Rising to greet means rising from one's seat when someone comes before one's eyes. Joining palms means joining the palms and bowing. Acts of reverence include extending the hands, snapping the fingers, and other acts of offering. When those two should not do something, others should also do the same. "Those two" refers to the practices of dwelling everywhere and pleasing. "When one should not do something" refers to the things that were taught, such as monks dwelling in their natural state not engaging in eloquent speech, prostrations, rising to greet, joining palms, or acts of reverence. "Others should also" refers to those who dwell in their natural state. "Those things" refers to not engaging in eloquent speech and so on in those practices of pleasing and pleasing. It is taught that those who dwell in their natural state should not engage in eloquent speech and so on in those two practices of dwelling everywhere and pleasing. One should not interrupt it with anything other than walking slowly together. This means that those two, together with the monk dwelling in his natural state, should not interrupt it by walking side by side or walking ahead, except for walking slowly together. Other than having a very low seat

To say "It is also not allowed to sit in a humble position" means that those two who practice dwelling in completeness and being content, in the presence of a monk who dwells in his own nature, should not sit in an equal or high position other than the lowest cushion. What need is there to mention a single seat? This is the concluding statement. It is taught thus: When the two sit, they should sit on the lowest seat together with the monk who dwells in his own nature, and should not sit on an equal or high seat. To say "A virtuous practitioner who follows behind should not go to houses with someone other than himself" means that when the two who practice dwelling in completeness and being content go to houses together with a monk who dwells in his own nature, a virtuous practitioner who follows behind, that is, someone other than himself, should not go as his friend or his teacher. It is taught thus: When the two go to a village, the monk who dwells in his own nature should go in the manner of a monk who follows behind, and should not go in the manner of a virtuous practitioner who goes in front. To say "One should not spread bedding under one covering" means that the two who practice abandoning and being content should not spread bedding in a place where the surface and the upper covering are the same, together with a monk who dwells in his own nature. To say "One should not ordain, fully ordain, give a dwelling, or place a novice nearby" means that the two should not ordain, should not fully ordain, should not give a dwelling, and should not place a novice nearby. To say "One should not accept requests and statements" means that the two should not accept or allow the Sangha's requests and statements to be done. It is taught thus: The two should not even be a part of the Sangha's completion. To say "One should also not accept being appointed as a worker, a teacher of nuns, or someone trusted by the Sangha" should be connected to "One should also not accept," meaning that the two should not accept being appointed as a worker, should not accept being appointed as a teacher of nuns, and should not accept being appointed as someone trusted by the Sangha. "Someone trusted by the Sangha" means appointing a dwelling, etc. To say "One who has been previously appointed should also not do it"
