If I were to speak to a novice monk, a novice nun, a male lay follower, and a female lay follower, would it be appropriate to speak? The Blessed One said, 'One should say, "Speaking to the close retinue."' If it is understood that those residing in other boundaries are also included, then it is understood. This is to exclude the statement that 'those residing in other boundaries are not even a part.' Here, the scripture states that similarly, if there is doubt, is it because there is sky? If there is doubt in the sky, is it because there is doubt? If one says, is it appropriate to speak? One should say, 'Speaking to the close retinue,' because speaking would result in a misdeed. Those arising from admonishment are for all the Sangha. That is to say, the transgressions arising from admonishment should be known to all the Sangha. The four common Sangha remnants: dividing the Sangha, siding with the dividers, destroying families, and not abandoning unpleasant speech; the four uncommon Sangha remnants: abandoning the Three Jewels, quarreling, dwelling in monastic land, and establishing in monastic land; and those who do not abandon the views of common transgressions, for the sake of confessing and disclosing the transgressions arising from admonishment, and making them known, this is what all the Sangha should do. Here, the scripture states that the monk, sitting on that seat, should say to the venerable ones, 'I have experienced an obstacle of Sangha remnants.' If he speaks, that is good. If he does not speak, then concealment will occur from that day onwards. The Blessed One said that the monk should say, 'Venerable ones, I have committed a transgression,' until 'it occurs naturally.' What should be confessed individually is said to those gathered in that place. That is to say, one should add the word 'to all,' and know that all the monks gathered in that place are included here, but not the Sangha. Similarly, here the scripture states that having entered the dwelling, one should in any case speak in front of the monks who are seen, even to those dwelling in the dwelling and so forth, in such a way that it becomes known, along with what is heard. If done in that way, if some are asleep

Even if it becomes famous due to donkeys, mules, etc., there is no second (reason). The basis of the place mentioned here is an example of a gathering place. In whatever direction the monks gather, in any case, those who should not hear, such as novices, should not be allowed to hear. This should also be understood as a temporary residence. So, how should this be understood? Therefore, those with life said this: If there are cases where one should confess individually that one should not become a place of slander for me, then one should confess these dharmas individually. Because what is done is certainly slander, and it is greed for food, so it is slander. Like this, those who have entered the Buddhist path to practice the undefiled Dharma, but run to the place of slander, this is not appropriate for practitioners. This speaks of the manner of reciting lamentations, so it is said that one should confess individually, not confession itself. Confession is like, because of the fall of the offense, one must confess in front of one person. That is not like reciting a mantra. What should be understood is that it is not like reciting a mantra three times for one's own purpose, reciting it once is enough. Reciting the mantra is to recite it three times in front of another monk, and squat in front of him, joining palms. If one cuts off from the mental karma, one can be liberated. It means that in order to cut off the sins of mental karma, such as wanting others to die, etc., if the thought arises that one will no longer do this, one can be liberated from the fall. If it is another (offense), one must perform a confession that includes cutting off. It means that for the offenses that should be confessed other than the fall of mental karma, if one performs a confession that includes cutting off, one can be liberated, and purity and impurity arise from the basis of intention, so if there is no intention to cut off, then confession will not have any effect. Here the sutra says: Will you cut off in the future? Cut off. What is said verbally takes abandoning the mind as a prerequisite, otherwise it is just lying. Therefore, it is also said that one can be liberated from the fall by intention, but not by the act of annihilation.
