The end of the setting sun is the end of the day, that is to say, the end that the setting sun enters is the end of the day. From then on, it belongs to the transgression of the night, which is its definition. The common characteristics of the following four have been explained. Now, let's talk about the individual characteristics of these four. In what circumstances does it become a Sanghavasesa of separation at night? Therefore, it is said, "Night goes out of the summer residence," and it is added, "Without a Bhikkhuni." If there is no Bhikkhuni, no Bhikkhuni who observes the precepts, and no other Bhikkhuni, if the night separates from the summer residence, then the transgression of separation at night will be committed. The summer residence mentioned here is a representative of all other examples outside of other houses, villages, gardens, temples, and excavated places, which is like a hidden rule. If there is no wall, then the outside of the summer residence is the boundary. If there is also a wall, then the wall itself is the boundary. The Sanghavasesa of separation at night has been explained. In what circumstances does it become a Sanghavasesa of separation during the day? Therefore, it is said, "Daytime," and it is added, "Goes out of the summer residence." And it is added, "Without a Bhikkhuni." If there is no Bhikkhuni, no Bhikkhuni who observes the precepts, and no other Bhikkhuni, if the daytime separates from the summer residence, then the transgression of separation during the day will be committed. Going alone to a relative's house for food, when encountering a disaster year, if permission is obtained to associate with relatives, one should go, that is to say, a Bhikkhuni goes alone to a relative's house for food. Is it possible to go at all times? No, therefore it is said, "When encountering a disaster year." Is it possible for all Bhikkhunis to go at that time? No, therefore it is said, "If permission is obtained to associate with relatives," that is to say, the association of associating with relatives, for the sake of that association, if permission is obtained from the Bhikkhuni Sangha. It should be given, that is to say, when encountering a disaster year.

At that time, the act of engaging in intimate practices with relatives and friends should be bestowed upon that bhikkhuni by the bhikkhuni sangha. The sanghadisesa called "separation during the day" has been explained. Under what circumstances does the sanghadisesa of "entering the road" occur? Therefore, it is said, "When entering the road," which should be connected with "without a bhikkhuni." Entering the road means walking on the road. If a bhikkhuni walks on the road without a fully ordained bhikkhuni or another bhikkhuni, for every krosa (approximately 3 kilometers) traversed, one sanghadisesa of "entering the road" is incurred, and for every half krosa traversed, one thullaccaya is incurred. Therefore, once the boundary of a village is crossed, it is considered entering the road. The boundaries of villages, etc., should be understood as previously explained in the case of separation from robes, except for gardens, celestial abodes, assembly places, etc. Even if gardens, etc., are connected to the boundary of a village, they are not considered part of the village boundary. This precept was established because of the incident of only Thullānandā wandering alone in the six great cities. The sanghadisesa called "entering the road" has been explained. Under what circumstances does the sanghadisesa of "crossing water" occur? Therefore, it is said, "When crossing a river," which should be connected with "without a bhikkhuni." Since it will be mentioned below, "crossing over by swimming with hands," this refers to the case of crossing by boat, etc. Therefore, even if the other shore is not reached, it still constitutes the root offense, because it is the act of entering the water. If a bhikkhuni, without a fully ordained bhikkhuni or another bhikkhuni, travels upstream or downstream by boat, etc., once she goes beyond the place where the boat is stationed, the offense is complete. Therefore, the mention of "the other shore" here should be understood as merely an example. "Crossing over by swimming with hands" refers to crossing a river by swimming with both hands. Only reaching the other shore constitutes the root offense; merely entering the water, etc., does not.
