"Being near the place" means: because the mind is focused on food. "Not being distracted" means: because all sentient beings focus on food. "Reducing sound with mindfulness" means: one should eat food without making loud noises. "Not doing that" means: not making sounds with hands and feet, etc. "Drinking soup without making a sound" means: one should drink soup without making a sound. "Not making a rustling sound" means: one should prepare things to carry, etc., without making a rustling sound. "Those that make sounds should be softened with water, etc." means: when chewing food, sounds that are made should be avoided with water, etc. "Not allowing music to be played for the sake of eating that food" means: one should not allow singing, dancing, cymbals, etc., to be played and eaten for the sake of eating food. The story here is that the monks invited by Amra Rakshita himself started playing music while eating the meal, and the Blessed One taught that one should not eat like a monk who allows music to be played, otherwise the meal will become a serious offense. There is no downfall in allowing music to be played at house festivals and stupas, this is what the Buddha said. Playing music in the mouth itself will become a minor misdeed. "Not doing the narration" means: one should not eat the meal while narrating the Dharma and merits, etc. "One should know them separately" means: one should know the narration of merits separately. The story here is that a monk should not eat while narrating merits. The so-called "narration of merits" means: dedicating the root of virtue and making aspirations. "If the time has passed, then two or three verses" means: if there is a concern that the time of noon has passed, then at that time, one should not eat until two or three verses have been recited. If explaining alone, one should also know by following this that one should not eat until two or three sentences have been explained. There is no downfall in eating after that. "After eating, recite the verses of the scriptures" means: after eating the meal, wipe your hands, place the bowl, and wash your mouth.

From here, recite the verses spoken by the sage. After eating, for the invited guests, one should do the benefactor's thanks and Dharma talk, that is to say, after eating the food, one should do the benefactor's thanks and Dharma talk for the benefactor. As it is said in the Sutra Pitaka, after washing hands and putting down the alms bowl, one should know that after rinsing the mouth, one should recite the verses. After definitely knowing that everyone has finished eating, that is to say, after definitely knowing that all the monks have finished eating the food, one should do the benefactor's thanks and Dharma talk. If asked how to definitely know, therefore it is said, "By looking around everywhere." If asked who should do these, therefore it is said, "If there are many, then the first one should do it," that is to say, if the monks are many, then at that time the first one in their row should do these. If one cannot, then entrust it to another capable one, that is to say, if the first one cannot do these, then one should entrust it to another monk who is present. If it is not finished and the monks have to leave, then give four or more attendants, that is to say, if the benefactor's thanks and Dharma talk are not finished, and the monks have to leave, then at that time leave at least four monks as Dharma talk attendants, and let the others leave. If they also have to leave, then report to the giver, that is to say, if this attendant also has to leave, then one should report to the attendant who gave himself to whom, and that attendant should also leave. When saying the benefactor's thanks, one should mention the names of Nanda and Upananda, that is to say, when doing the benefactor's thanks, one should also mention the names of the dragon king Nanda and Upananda, because they are both very faithful to the Buddha's teachings, and are the complete protectors of the teachings, and mentioning their names will also generate joy. Here the treatise comes from the Vibhanga, when saying the benefactor's thanks, one should also mention the names of the dragon king Nanda and Upananda. If it is not mentioned, then it will become a serious offense, it is said. The second throat emits untimely hiccups, initially two or three.
