At that time, as many monks as there are, such as three monks, should bless the permissible house by uttering the words proclaiming it as such in unison. The ritual and mantra for this are: all the monks who have come should say in unison, "This place will become the permissible house of the Sangha." This is what was said. The name of this permissible house blessed in the fourth period is called "the place that arises suddenly." The term "arising suddenly" means without special consideration, because this place arose without special consideration, hence it is called "the place that arises suddenly." "It is not unseemly for one to do the work of many temples" means: it is not unseemly for one permissible house to do the work of many temples, such as cooking inside and staying overnight inside; it is only seemly. This shows that: if a temple is located in different places, then in many different places, if one permissible house is blessed, then it can do things like staying overnight and cooking inside for all the people in all the temples, and it should be known that this is not unseemly. The name of a permissible house that does the work of many temples is called "like a cow pen," that is, one permissible house, like a cow pen, accommodates many temples facing different directions, and that is like a cow pen. Here, the question is: what is like a cow pen? The answer is: on any base, it accommodates many different directions. This explains. "Is that the permission that has become different?" means: it should be known that the permissible house that is said to accommodate many places facing different directions is not referring to the permissible house that has become different and is not related to the place of the temple, but rather to the permissible house that is related to the place of the temple and has been blessed. This shows that: that permissible house is not blessed by the base that is not related to the place. Here it says: if many temples facing different directions are arranged in one place, and then one permissible house is jointly approved there, then all those temples...

It is said that there is only one house that is acceptable. Lotus, called famine, means that in the following scriptures, wherever lotus appears, until this version, everything mentioned should be understood as being allowed during famine, and not allowed at other times, and should be linked in this way. Just as the scripture here says: Ananda, when famine and disaster occurred in the city of Vaisali, I allowed the monks to enjoy eight things, namely: overnight ghee, cooked inside, self-cooked, cooked by monks, morning food received as alms, thus accomplished, forest bones and lotuses, etc., the monks can still use those things to enjoy. Some monks eat, some monks do not eat. Therefore, the World Honored One summoned the monks to that topic and said to the monks: Monks, when famine and disaster occurred in the city of Vaisali, in order to have compassion for the monks of Vaisali, the eight things that were allowed can be enjoyed during famine, but not during harvest. If you enjoy it, you will commit a serious crime. During famine, monks can eat what is cooked, held in hand, and not received as alms. Ghee cooked inside and overnight. Morning food, those are allowed to eat overnight and repeatedly. At all times of drinking, that is, during famine and harvest, drinks such as porridge and yogurt are allowed to be eaten overnight and repeatedly. The scripture here is, therefore, relying on twenty kotis of barley seedlings, it is allowed for all the Sangha to drink beverages, it is said, this is also loosely allowed to eat overnight and repeatedly. Having given up what was received as alms before, stand up, that is, the food that was received as alms before, give up comfortably and stand up to eat. This is eating overnight.
