If. The so-called "should not hold things like sheep horns" means: one should not hold shoes made of peacock feathers, etc., that have high and low wrinkles like sheep horns. The so-called "should not hold leaves like Ashvattha trees and oleander trees" means: one should not hold shoes with uppers like the leaves of Ashvattha trees and oleander trees, which have summer leaves. The so-called "should not hold things decorated with gold and silver" means: one should not hold shoes decorated with gold and silver. The so-called "should not hold things that make a clicking sound" means: one should not hold shoes that make a clicking sound. The so-called "should not hold things that make a creaking sound" means: one should not hold shoes that make a creaking sound. The so-called "should not hold things that make a tuk-tuk sound" means: one should not hold shoes that make a tuk-tuk sound. The so-called "should not hold things that make a tick-tick sound" means: one should not hold shoes that make a tick-tick sound. The so-called "other things that become decorations are also the same" means: in order to prohibit all decorations, this sentence was said. The so-called "those with ankle guards are not unsuitable" means: one should know that it is not considered a decoration. The so-called "should hold those with toe and heel covers" means: one should hold shoes with toe covers and heel covers. The scripture here is: When the monks climbed Vulture Peak Mountain, their toes were worn out, and the Blessed One taught: "Should hold those with toe covers," he said. When descending the mountain, the heels were worn out, so it was said, "Should hold those with heel covers." The so-called "born from Khachuchu" means: one should hold shoes named "born from Khachuchu." Its name is taken from its meaning, because from the water of the dragon's saliva, the grass became poisonous, and in order to eliminate the harm of that grass, that shoe appeared in the world, so that shoe is named "born from Khachuchu." That shoe almost covers the entire foot and exposes the edge at the ankle, and it should be known that it is called "having a covered edge." The so-called "broken shoe uppers are also the same" should also be added to the sentence "should hold." The scripture here is: when the dragon king Sogma Me and others dropped hail, the grass also became poisonous.

Later, sores appeared on the feet of the monks, and the wounds festered. The Blessed One said: One should carry (medicine) that comes from water blisters. The shoe straps should be cut off. In areas where salt marshes form by the water, one should also wear hats and shoes with buckles. That is to say, in areas where salt marshes form by the water, one should carry hats and shoes with buckles. Holding these two is to shield from the cold wind. If away from the cold wind, they should be placed like fine cloth clothes in summer. For the purpose of healing illness, it is permissible to hold them at all times, because it is allowed and there is no violation. Do not flaunt wearing shoes in front of the lama. That is to say, do not flaunt wearing shoes in front of the teacher, Khenpo, Acharya, etc. The Blessed One himself rebuked the monks who walked wearing shoes, therefore he also rebuked this behavior of the monks, so this sutra was made. Do not wear any part of a lion, tiger, antelope, elephant, swift horse, or fast-running horse on the body. That is to say, do not wear any of their fur, tendons, etc. on the body of a monk. They tame ordinary elephants, wild horses, and other wild beasts. That is to say, it should be understood that lions, etc. also include ordinary elephants, etc. Here, the text says that therefore a monk should not hold the shoes of the five impermissible types, namely those of a swift elephant, a swift horse, a lion, a tiger, and an antelope. Do not knock the shoes. That is to say, in order to shake off dust, etc., do not knock them on the ground. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove the dust. That is to say, in order to remove the dust from the shoes, wipe them with a damp cloth. It should be held. That is to say, the damp cloth for wiping. They should be sewn.
