Having gone to another rock cave, there was a faithful householder there who invited them to another house for a meal, thinking that he should give each monk a large cloth. They also went to eat the meal. Sixty nuns also arrived at that rock cave, and they also ate there. Then, that householder placed sixty large cloths after the elders, and the monks did not know how to distribute them. The Blessed One then said, "This gain belongs to both sanghas, so it should be equally distributed by both sanghas." Regarding seats, water, and alms, the monks are not more important than the nuns, meaning that in matters such as seats, the monks are more important than the nuns. In the assembly of nuns, the seats should be placed after the elders, meaning that in the assembly of nuns, the row of seats should be placed behind the elders, because among a hundred people, there may be a monk who comes. If they are with monks and they cannot recite the merits, then the nuns should recite the merits, meaning that in offerings and other occasions, if they are with monks and those monks cannot recite the merits, then the nuns may recite the merits. If someone is distributing food, and the food is placed nearby for the purpose of giving, the abbot of the sangha should instruct, "First distribute it equally," meaning that the abbot of the sangha should instruct the person distributing food that when food is placed before the sangha for the purpose of giving to the sangha, first distribute it equally to everyone. If one does not instruct in this way when taking food for the first time, one has committed an offense. Even if one does not speak at first, one should speak afterwards, and if one does not speak even then, one will commit another offense. Observing the assembly, if there are many people and little food, then one should speak first and know the difference, meaning that if the abbot of the sangha observes the assembly and finds that there are many people and little food, then the abbot of the sangha, when distributing food

When food is prepared for the sake of offering, one should instruct: "First, speak the previous words, and then distribute especially." The meaning of "First, speak" is that if the Sangha is large and the food is little, then repeat what was said before, instructing: "O monks, because there are many people and little food, distribute especially." Here it is taught: Observing the Sangha, if the Sangha's possessions are many and the food is little, then the abbot of the Sangha should have the person distributing food say, when preparing food for offering, "First, speak," which is to repeat what was said before, "The Sangha's possessions are many and the food is little," and then instruct to distribute especially. If the situation is different, then distribute as much as possible. The meaning of "If the situation is different" is that the Sangha's possessions are few and the food is much. The meaning of "Distribute as much as possible" is that, observing the Sangha, if the Sangha is small and the food is much, then the abbot of the Sangha should have the person distributing food say, when preparing food for offering, first say, "The Sangha is small and the food is much," and then instruct to distribute as much as possible. At the end of the elders, one should not take food first without reciting (samprāpta, Sanskrit Devanagari: संप्राप्त, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: saṃprāpta, literal Chinese meaning: arrived). It means that the person distributing food, at the end of the elders of the Sangha, the abbot of the Sangha should not take food first until the mantra (samprāpta, Sanskrit Devanagari: संप्राप्त, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: saṃprāpta, literal Chinese meaning: arrived) is recited. The meaning of the word (samprāpta, Sanskrit Devanagari: संप्राप्त, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: saṃprāpta, literal Chinese meaning: arrived) is "become equal," and (viśaṃprāpta, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: viśaṃprāpta, literal Chinese meaning:) means "become unequal," which means "become poison." Not becoming poison is becoming equal, which is (samprāpta, Sanskrit Devanagari: संप्राप्त, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: saṃprāpta, literal Chinese meaning: arrived). Therefore, if the person distributing food recites this mantra (samprāpta, Sanskrit Devanagari: संप्राप्त, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: saṃprāpta, literal Chinese meaning: arrived) in front of the monks, even poisonous food will become non-poisonous. When distributing food, if those who were not invited arrive, one should tell the patron. It means that when the patron prepares the food, if monks who were not invited arrive, then the invited monks should tell the patron. This is to avoid poverty.
