Because they did not know what kind of cushion had an inner lining, the World Honored One taught: It should be tied with a bundle of grass and wrapped with cloth. Here, saying a cushion with an inner lining is just an example, one can also sit on other cushions. This is to avoid the Dharma robes becoming improper. Do not place it in an unclean place, meaning even if the Dharma robe is separated, do not place it there. If there is dust, do not press it with heavy objects, meaning if there is other dust, do not press the Dharma robe with it. Do not use it casually, meaning do not wear the top as the bottom, or the bottom as the top, do not use it casually. When defecating, urinating, and handling unclean things, do not wear the monastic robe, meaning do not wear the monastic robe when defecating, urinating, and handling unclean things. Handling unclean things refers to the essence of those unclean things, such as cleaning, wiping, washing feet in the temple, and cleaning the toilet, washing, and other cleaning work. Do not wear the monastic robe at these times. Do not sleep there, meaning do not sleep on the monastic robe. 'If it sticks to the body, it should be sprinkled with astringent water or water mixed with brick powder, and then slowly, little by little, peeled off' means: if the pus pad sticks to the body, it should be sprinkled with astringent water mixed with bark such as wood bark, or water mixed with brick powder, and then slowly, little by little, peeled off. Those two can remove dirt and heal wounds.

Three cubits and half a cubit are folded and sewn, referring to: the length of that cloth bag is three cubits. The width is half a cubit plus three, folded and sewn. It should be opened in the middle, referring to: in the middle of that cloth bag, it should be opened in the length direction. It should be made with buttonholes, referring to: buttonholes should be made at the opening of that cloth bag.
