Indeed, it is suitable for consumption. Regarding what is called "the basis of the dependent garment," the basis of the garment that depends on the Vinaya has been explained. Now, in order to gather the basis of garments belonging to miscellaneous items, it is said, "The pieces of cloth and half pieces of cloth should be made equal." The pieces of cloth should also be made equal separately, and the half pieces of cloth should also be made equal separately. The pieces of cloth should also be made equal in size together with the pieces of cloth, and the half pieces of cloth should also be made equal in size together with the half pieces of cloth, because this equality is for the sake of beauty. "For the sake of measuring, one should hold a measuring stick of that size," means that for the sake of measuring the pieces of cloth and half pieces of cloth, one should hold a measuring stick of the size of those two. If one measuring stick can fulfill the needs of both, then two are not needed. Likewise, it is also said that one should hold only one measuring stick from another. The Blessed One said, "Make a measuring stick, and make pieces of cloth of that size. Cut half pieces of cloth according to the size of the pieces of cloth." The meaning of "small pieces also" is that they should also be made equal. The meaning of "one should cut a measuring stick of that size" is that for the sake of measuring, one should hold a measuring stick of the size of the small pieces. The meaning of "its large size is four fingers" is that the width of the large size of that small piece should be made four fingers. "A crow's span is also" is also the width of the size of that small piece. What is called a crow's span is when the middle joint of the index finger is placed against the middle joint of the thumb, and placed crosswise like a bird's foot. The distance between the tips of the thumb and index finger placed in that way is called a crow's span. In reality, there are only four fingers there, but it is said that way because it is shown in another way. The meaning of "the small size is two fingers or half plus three or one thumb finger" is that the width of the small size of the small piece is two fingers or half plus three fingers or one thumb finger. In some texts it says that the large size is four fingers, the small size is half plus three fingers, and the middle is the medium size. In some texts it says that the large size is four fingers or a crow's span.
