It shows. The first three months of summer and the sun on the sixteenth day of the middle month of autumn, etc., are gathered together, or the three Dharma robes transformed from the acquisition of clothes arising from their respective causes, which should be laid out here. Wherever there is a definite acquisition of clothes in the monastery, it should also be known that it is included here. Therefore, what is related to this should also be laid out. Which are the three Dharma robes accomplished with the value obtained for the sake of clothes, those should also be laid out, because the value of clothes is given for the sake of clothes. Although the Vinaya does not explicitly say three Dharma robes, it seems to say three from the perspective of mantra. How do you know that? It is known from the Vinaya where the venerable ones say, "I will lay out the mat tomorrow, you should take out your own Dharma robes." If only one needs to be laid out, then it should be said, "Each of you take out one of your own Dharma robes," which would become a singular statement. However, the Vinaya says, "Each of you take out your own Dharma robes," which is a plural statement. Because it is unreasonable to take out all three when blessing one. Like this, the treatise here is: A monk cannot lay out or approach the Sangha's mat. If it is offered to the Sangha, then it is allowed. The upper robe and the lower skirt are also the same. Saying the upper robe and the lower skirt shows that all three Dharma robes can be used as mats. Therefore, this also shows that the five Dharma robes of the nuns can be used as mats. The so-called "of the Sangha" means that the three Dharma robes of the Sangha can be used as mats, because that is what the Sangha should bless. In order to show which Dharma robes are suitable for laying out, it is said that they have not been combed and beaten, are not damaged, are not soiled, and are not worn out. The so-called "not combed and beaten" means combing and beating the wool like felt, and what has not been done like that is not combed and beaten.

Pa'o. "Not tilted" means that it appears uneven because the edges are hanging down. Some say that it refers to when hollow stems are inserted in between during weaving, making it empty. Whatever is not done like that is "not tilted." "Not pecked" means pecked by birds, birds, mice, and Udatingka and sand, etc., with their beaks. Whatever is not done like that is "not pecked." "Not thin" means thin flesh. Whatever is not done like that is "not thin." "Color changed" means only washing and changing the color. "Only washing" means washing without breaking or hitting. "Changing the color" means changing the color by the characteristic of changing the color after only washing like that. This encompasses what is said, "Acceptable is the un-impacted Dharma garment." Here, the scripture is: What is an acceptable un-impacted Dharma garment? Un-impacted means unbroken. Because it itself is acceptable, it is said to be acceptable un-impacted. That is to say, the Dharma garment with changed color is also like that, so do not lay out the Dharma garment with changed color. "Not fully used" means not fully used by anyone. Fully used means having become old. If the Dharma garment has become old and needs to be stretched out, then it should be said that it has not been laid out. Similarly, the scripture is: What is a Dharma garment that has become old? It refers to the three Dharma garments used by a monk. "Hard" eliminates the tearing of the Dharma garment. Here, the scripture is when a Brahmin's daughter asked a monk: What is the tearing of a Dharma garment? It refers to the Dharma garment that has fallen off the body of a monk. Tearing means exhaustion, so "not become like that" is its synonym. "Not sewn, not long, not patched, not broken, and not with amulets," the word "not" should be connected separately with all five of these. "Sewn" means sewn with pieces of different kinds of cloth. Whatever is not sewn like that is not sewn.
