For those who are lodging, it is the place of residence. For the lay attendants, it is the reading teacher. For the nuns, it is the monks. For those who have not taken full ordination and have renounced, it should be understood that this is merely a transformation of the words of full ordination, because it is the place of residence. "One should not establish a sangha" means: the Dharma should be taught. If there is another sangha nearby that teaches the Dharma, one should not establish another sangha to teach the Dharma. Here, it is not forbidden to assemble, but rather it refers to the place where the sound of teaching the Dharma can be heard from each other, other monks should not establish other sanghas near other sanghas that teach the Dharma to teach the Dharma. As the Blessed One allowed the rows of listeners to the Dharma to appear in the form of a half-moon or a pond in the courtyard. Therefore, clamor is forbidden, because when monks teach the Dharma in clamor, they become noisy, which is said at the beginning of the story. "One should not use half a sangha" means: in one sangha, to some people, half a sangha is taught, and to others, a sangha is taught, this should not be done. Here, the text of these two is: one should not speak with a sangha, one should not speak with half a sangha, if one speaks, one will commit a downfall. "One should not make two into one" means: this is an explanation of what was said before, "if many, then one," whether it is a sangha or half a sangha, two people should not teach the Dharma together. Here, the text is: two people should not speak in one sangha. If someone speaks, they will commit a downfall. "According to seniority" means: here also, it should be connected to what was said before, "if many, then one," here it means that if there are many speakers, then they should speak according to seniority, rather than forbidding speaking. "If there are many, then two or three seats should be set up" means: if the speaker is an elderly speaker, then two or three seats should be set up above, and then the speaker will speak.

It should be done. If it cannot be obtained in any way? No, therefore, if those cushions cannot be obtained, it is said. Any Dharma speaker, if the two or three cushions of the elder Dharma speakers cannot be obtained, that is, those cushions cannot be obtained, he should place the two or three cushions of the elders on top to preach the Dharma. If someone cannot obtain three cushions, they should also place three cushions. If someone cannot obtain two, they should also place two. If someone cannot obtain one, they should also place one. If he is the abbot, he should sit at the head of the row. These are the rituals of sitting together without setting up thrones and cushions. The lion throne should also be like that, that is, sitting and preaching the Dharma. For lion thrones, cushions, etc., for separately laid thrones and cushions, it is not necessary to arrange the positions of other elders as before. A spittoon should be placed, this is for spitting. Pour it in there, that is, in the spittoon. What should be poured in there? Therefore it is said, sand or ashes, these two are just examples, because other grass etc. is also acceptable. At that time it should be cleaned from time to time, that is, referring to that spittoon. On the evenings of the eighth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days, one should listen to the Dharma. Here the scriptures say, monks, therefore on the eighth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days, monks should gather together to preach the Dharma, this is allowed. There is no fault if a sick person does not do this, that is, there is no fault if a sick person does not listen to the Dharma and does not recite it. In order to say that, do not refuse the request, that is, in order to teach and preach that Dharma, if others request, the monk should not refuse, that is, he should agree. If one is unable, etc., the request should be dealt with by drawing lots, that is, if one is sick and unable or is entangled in other matters, then the request for that ritual should be dealt with by drawing lots and understood, that is its meaning. If there is no speaker, one should recall in order and recite each sentence.
