Ra. It is said: One should sleep without moving the body, mind, and clothes. For each of the body, mind, and clothes, the phrase "without moving" should be added separately. Here, the text states that at midnight, one should wash one's feet outside the temple, enter the temple, and spread the monastic robe folded into four layers. The woolen mat should be folded many times and used as a pillow, then lie down on the right side. Place one foot on top of the other, and sleep with the awareness and mindfulness of not moving the body, not moving the mind, and not moving the clothes. And it is said: A monk should not sleep during the day, etc. If it is not so, a monk should not sleep during the day. This means that a sick monk should not sleep during the day. Here, it should be understood as fatigue and physical weakness, or something similar to illness. If one is drowsy due to sleep and cannot bear chest tightness, one should rest a little to eliminate this condition. If one is drowsy due to food and cannot bear chest tightness, one should also rest a little. The Sutra also says: Like burning firewood, in the last month of spring, one should slightly eliminate the drowsiness caused by food. If the back feels pain, one should stop supporting the body with the knees, which means that if a monk feels pain in the back, he should stop the act of supporting the body with the knees. The senses should be gathered inward, the mind should not wander outward, and one should walk clearly and uprightly without interruption. The senses such as the eyes are by nature outgoing, so they should be gathered inward and not allowed to wander outward. The meaning of not letting the mind wander outward is that, just as the earth and so on are also objects of the mind, one should turn the mind away from worldly thoughts and gather the mind inward. The meaning of "clearly" is to walk with joy, with the mind and body fully engaged. The meaning of "uprightly" is to walk without crooked steps. The meaning of "without interruption" is not to stay in one place, but to walk at a moderate pace. If one cannot do it, one should tie a rope around the body and walk. The meaning of "cannot" is that if one cannot walk uprightly, one should tie a rope around the body and walk. The walkable distance is twelve cubits.

Is, in the width of the place to walk. The renunciant's is eighteen cubits, which refers to: in the width of the place to walk, it is cubits. Measure it with a rope and do it, which refers to: the monk measures that walking place with a rope and does it. Here the scripture is separated, they do not know how the walking place should be, the World Honored One taught: the renunciant's walking place is eighteen cubits. The reciter's is twelve cubits, those are measured with a rope and done, so it is said. The monk should preach the Dharma, which refers to: the monk should preach the Dharma to the Sangha from time to time. Sitting, which refers to: sitting on a lion throne etc. to preach the Dharma. If there are many, then one should speak, which refers to: if there are many Dharma preachers, then one should speak first. The Dharma preacher is the business of those who belong to the Sangha of monks here, not others. Belonging to the Sangha of monks here, which refers to: know that those who belong to the renunciants here, there are those with characteristics and those without characteristics, those with precepts and those without precepts, there are novices and novice nuns etc. all. Whichever one, which refers to: not only elders and those with characteristics and those who have received full ordination can do it, new people and those without characteristics and those who have renounced and have not received full ordination can also do it, even if there are many Dharma preachers among them, not all of them speak, but any one of them should speak. Do not do it without reporting, which refers to: the Dharma should be preached. If it does not appear because of his words, which refers to: if because of the words of which monk the invitation of the Sangha etc. appears, then that monk can preach the Dharma even without being reported by others, like this because the words of that monk become preaching there, because facing, so facing is equal to having reported to that monk. Here it is said to appear, it is only an example, because his words appear, in all cases the ritual is the same. In all cases, know that it is because of the words of the Sangha's elder that it appears. Total
