The transgressions of quiescence and combination are distinct. For example, if a monk steals the property of many owners with one combination of moving from a place, etc., and the basis of five mashakas, etc., is also complete, then he is defeated from each sentient being, and the combination called gross sin is only one. When the basis is not complete from each sentient being, then at that time the gross sins are different from each sentient being. For example, if a monk shoots many people with one combination of arrows, then at that time the gross sins are different from each sentient being, But the misdeed is only one. If tying and wrapping are said to be gross sins, touching the boat tied with a rope, when tying and wrapping the rope and the stake, in order to eliminate the doubt about the gross sin, it is said that releasing the stake is not touching the boat. How does one release the boat from the stake? It will not touch it. Therefore, touching the rope itself is the combination of combinations, which is a synonym for misdeed. The scripture here says that if a monk moves a boat tied to a stake with a stealing mind, he will commit a misdeed. If it is hidden from one place to another, it is called stealing, and in order to specifically exclude the general combination, it is said that stealing after doing it is because of stealing something. The meaning of after doing it is that it is thought that stealing only after taking something. Therefore, for stealing, when something is taken, when something is stolen, it should be known that it is only stealing, and if those limbs are collected, it is not stealing. This shows that when the clothes are scattered by the wind, or other property is scattered, the monk picks up those things, and if he collects those things with the intention of stealing, like this, measuring the value of five mashakas, etc., even if he moves from one place to another before picking up the clothes, etc., he will not be defeated, because at that time he has the intention of collecting, but not the intention of stealing. The scripture here says that, like this, the clothes of the washerman are spread out and blown away by the wind, and the monk with the combination

As long as one does not encroach or conceal, it remains a minor offense. If one encroaches, conceals, collects clothes, bundles them, and as long as one does not hide them from one place to another, it remains a serious offense. If one hides them from one place to another, then it can be said to be theft. It is said that the value must be calculated, and so on. In short, it is said, "It is piled up." The term "after collecting" refers to the idea of "stealing only after collecting." Therefore, with regard to stealing, when one has finished collecting and steals the piled-up heap, one should know that that is stealing. When those parts are collected, it is not stealing. Here, it is taught that when a monk picks flowers and fruits, and with the thought of stealing only after picking, even if he picks a quantity worth five mashakas or so, at that time, only when he piles them up and steals the piled-up heap, is it stealing. Picking flowers and so on is not stealing, because in this way, he only has the thought of picking, not the thought of stealing. Here, the scripture is like this, starting from when a monk rises from his bed, as long as he does not encroach or conceal, it remains a minor offense. Encroaching, concealing, climbing a flower tree, picking flowers, filling a container, and as long as one does not hide them from one place to another, it remains a serious offense, and so on. If a monk soaks trees and so on in water and so on, if he steals, when does it become stealing? Therefore, it is said, "For soaking, from above the place, sinking above the object." If the object to be stolen sinks from above the place, then at the time of soaking, it is combined as stealing. For soaking in water and so on, the place of the object to be stolen is water and so on. Above that place is the uppermost layer of the uppermost part. Passing from that uppermost layer and sinking is sinking. What sinks? Therefore, it is said, "Above the object," the uppermost layer of the uppermost part of that object to be stolen sinks.
