When explaining the classification of common characteristics, such as actions, it is mentioned that "for things that are not the beginning of day and night, there is no non-whole thing," which indicates the characteristics of day and night, not just the characteristics of night alone. Therefore, this view is not accepted here. So, what is the beginning of night? When the red light that appears after the sun sets disappears, that is the beginning of night. This should be understood when explaining dawn. Just as here the beginning of the day is the so-called last ray of dawn, that is, when the red dawn appears, similarly, the disappearance of the red light is also the end of the day, and after that, it should be regarded as night. Bhikshu, if someone stays continuously in one place all night, how would that only constitute one fault? Therefore, if a bhikshuni goes out and then enters again beyond the boundary of her dwelling, then different falls will be constituted, because the actions are different. If one stays all night without entering or leaving, then it constitutes one fall. From where does entering the door begin to be considered the dwelling of a bhikshuni? Therefore, it is said that the two ends of the door latch and the door ring are its beginning. That is, the door latch inside the bhikshuni's dwelling, and the edge of the door ring of the door latch, that is, the point of contact, these two should be considered the beginning of the bhikshuni's dwelling. Here, what is the door ring? From where the root of the door latch is fixed, to its top pointing outwards and bending, and from there bending its top backwards to the inside, the area covered by the door latch is the door ring, and its edge should be known as the beginning of the bhikshuni's dwelling. The distinction of the area should be understood as follows: if the door is not closed, then the edge of the door ring is the beginning of the bhikshuni's dwelling; if the door is closed, then at that time the edge of the door latch is the beginning of the bhikshuni's dwelling. O King!

The royal palace and cities are also similar to this, just as the first of the place where the consorts reside is the latch of that place and the surrounding edges, so too the first of the royal palace and cities is the latch of its door and the surrounding edges. For the consorts' residence, when the door is established, the latch of the door and the surrounding edges are the first. When the door of the place where the consorts reside is not established, then the inner surface of the moat, etc., is the first of the consorts' residence. The incidental (content) is completed.
