Since the thought of claiming those things as one's own has not arisen there, it seems that there is no cause for defeat. How should one deal with a treasure for which there is neither understanding of the meaning of an owner nor of a non-owner? For example, it is like stealing the possessions of those with unpleasant northern sounds. If there is no thought of stealing, then there is no downfall at that time, because there is no ownership. If the thought of stealing arises, then a grave offense is committed. If the treasure, the meaning of which is not understood by the owner, is less than five mashakas, etc., and one thinks that there is no owner, or thinks that there is an owner, or thinks that the owner is possessed by a human or a non-human, then stealing it is an offense, because it is reduced by the components of being subject to a grave offense. If someone else steals it, it becomes the basis, but what happens if one steals it oneself? Therefore, it is said, "It is one's own." Thinking that one's own possessions are five mashakas, etc., with the thought of stealing, stealing, causing others to steal, or ordering others to steal also results in a grave offense. The word "thinking" should be understood in this context as "thinking it is one's own." Similarly, the scripture says that therefore, a bhikshu should not take his own bowl and robes with the thought of stealing. If a bhikshu takes his own bowl and robes with the thought of stealing, he commits a grave offense. For something that is one's own but is thought to be possessed by another, there is only a grave offense, because the thought of stealing is very strong. Similarly, the scripture says, "Bhiksus, this non-failing, non-deluded person has committed a grave downfall because of his own old robes." For something that is one's own but is thought not to be possessed by another, there is also only a grave offense, because thinking it is one's own and thinking it is not possessed is like falling simultaneously. Similarly, for something that is not possessed, whether one thinks it is not possessed or thinks it is possessed, there is also only a grave offense. "Of another being" means applying "thinking it is of another being" to one's own possessions. Any being other than a human being is another being. One's own thing

If one steals something that is possessed by others on the land, even if the fundamental branch is complete, it is a grave offense, because there is the thought of 'yes' there. Here, the discussion is, if one thinks, 'This should not be stolen, this is not stolen by a person,' and so on. If one thinks that the things of other beings are the things of humans, it is only a grave offense. If one thinks that it is not completely possessed, it is only a grave offense. If one steals what one should possess, it is shown that one will commit a defeat, but if it is only the mind of separating from the owner, what will happen? Therefore, if one separates it by hiding what is not owned, wasting, releasing the captured, etc., it is also considered, so it is said. If one separates it from the owner by hiding what is not owned, etc., it is also considered a grave offense, so it is connected. Hiding means putting it in a mud puddle, etc. Wasting means the nature of burning, cutting, tearing, etc. Releasing the captured means, if one thinks, 'Do not let the deer and fish, etc., captured by traps, etc., become his, and do not let them become mine,' and then I release the prey captured by others' hunting nets, etc., all of these will become grave offenses. Saying 'etc.' is to include other situations, therefore, binding, tearing, expelling, and killing, etc., whatever is included by 'etc.,' and stealing or instigating stealing, even if there is no mind of stealing and its branches, but if one possesses the instruction, not giving, five mashakas, etc., being possessed by humans, and all other branches of thinking 'yes' there, then even instructing will commit a grave offense. If it is less than the branches included in the grave offense, it is a misdeed. Just as being possessed in any way, and thinking it is in any way, if one separates less than five mashakas, etc., it is a misdeed, similarly, if one thinks that what is possessed by humans is possessed by other beings, and separates it, even if it is less than what is included in the grave offense, it is also a misdeed. Similarly, if it is possessed by non-humans
