Saying, "Do you know or understand those belongings of so-and-so bhikkhu? Then go and steal those, rob those, move those from one place to another," if he steals those with a thieving mind, robs those, moves those from one place to another, then both will equally incur a downfall. However, if he thinks, "This is his," then the taker will not incur a downfall, but the one who instructs the stealing will incur a downfall as it is. This is what was said. The so-called "robbing with compassion and magical power" should be added to "there is no downfall." That is, with compassion as the cause, with compassion as the guide, with the magical power of that kind, robbing people and things, etc., from the robber, there is no downfall. Although it will be said below, "Like this, doing it with a compassionate mind, then one commits a minor offense," however, the mind of magical power with compassion as the guide, that kind of mind comes from cultivation, therefore there will be no downfall for that. In order to show the related downfall after showing the actual downfall, it is said, "In all related things, then one commits a minor offense." That is, for all downfalls, whatever is related to them, one commits a minor offense. This is generally speaking, in order to show the distinction within it, it is said, "In that category, if it is the actual thing, then it is a serious offense." That is, in that category belonging to defeat (referring to the four root downfalls), if that related thing is the actual thing, then that related thing is a serious offense. If it is only a related relation, then it is only a minor offense. In order to show that this is also the same in the category of sanghadisesa, it is said, "It is the same in the following." That is, just as in the category belonging to defeat, for the related thing, it is said that the actual thing is a serious offense, in the following category of sanghadisesa, it should also be understood in the same way, that is, if it is an actual related thing, then it is a serious offense. If it is a related relation, then it is a minor offense. If one steals or instructs to steal five mashakas, etc., then one will commit a defeat, in order to rely on impermissible speech, it is said, "If one steals less than the amount."

, from here down to the sutra that says "committing offenses with a compassionate mind," it should be regarded as a grave offense. If one steals something worth five mashakas, even if all other limbs are present, it should be known as a grave offense. For example, although there are limbs such as not given, with a stealing mind, possessed by humans, and thinking about it, if one steals or instigates stealing or sends someone to steal something less than five mashakas, it is only a grave offense. However, in some cases, if three or two limbs are incomplete, it is considered an offense. For example, if it is possessed by non-humans and one thinks about it, or if one knows it is possessed by humans, stealing what is not given is an offense, because the limbs are incomplete. Likewise, if it is not possessed by anyone, not given, possessed by non-humans, and there is no thought about it, it is only an offense. If there is no stealing mind, then one will not fall into offense at all times. Therefore, here, the stealing mind is the limb of the main action, and the remaining limbs are its distinctions. The so-called "possessed by humans" shows that stealing something with an owner results in defeat. What if one steals something without an owner? Therefore, it is said "ownerless treasure," if one steals it, it is a grave offense. However, that treasure must also be something not understood by the owner. Thus, in reality, that thing has an owner, but if he does not understand it, it is called ownerless. Thus, the scripture records: He (the patient) said to the attendant, "Prepare three kinds of food and porridge." And he said to the Sangha, "Even if you are poor, you should eat and drink." After that, he gave the goods to them. They thought, "What shall we do with three kinds of food and porridge? It is better to give this person some three kinds of food and porridge, and then we will divide the goods." So, they gave him some three kinds of food and porridge, and then divided the goods. They felt remorse, and the Blessed One taught, "There is no defeat offense, but a grave offense will be committed." That is, for those who made offerings.
