The very life of what it is, the offering of that very life is completely abandoned and returned, or if it is impaired by faults such as being born with two sets of genitals or being a hermaphrodite, then that vow will not arise, it will not become arising, that is the definition. Here, the scripture is, from various scattered examples, if a male lay follower, after receiving the Bhikshu vows, individually thinks that he is a householder, then it is not that he has received the Bhikshu vows. There is no need to mention when receiving the Bhikshu vows, here it should be known that the manifested birth is not the birth itself, because nothing can hinder the birth itself. Therefore, like this, what is interrupted by many moments is called the birth itself. This is what is said. This is mostly the case of requesting the basis of ordination. Now, the characteristics of the ritual of offering the precepts are described: What is done by the loss of nature is not the offering itself, regarding this, "loss of nature" refers to the loss of nature of anyone's ordinary mind, such as madness, etc. "What is done itself" refers to the offering of precepts that has been done, its entity is what is done itself. The offering itself that is done by the loss of nature is what is done itself by the loss of nature, that is not the offering itself. This is how it is shown: if the precepts are offered by the loss of nature, such as madness, etc., even if it has been offered completely, it will not become the offering of precepts. Regarding "that is not", it means that if the precepts are offered to a listener who has lost his nature, then the precepts of offering the precepts are not the offering. "Not to the dumb" means that if it is offered to a dumb listener, then that is not an offering. Whoever cannot speak in any situation is considered dumb here. "Not to non-human beings" means that the offering made to gods, nagas, yakshas, rakshasas, etc., that is also not the offering itself. "Not to the non-understanding itself" means that when offering to the listener, he does not understand the words and expressions, that is, he does not fully comprehend, then even if it is offered, it is not an offering. The foolish, the deaf, the meditator, and the offering of the central region to the border people, etc., these are also included, because in them there is also the cause of non-understanding itself.

The so-called "not secluded" means that even if one gives with the thought of seclusion or the thought of non-seclusion, it is not a true offering. For example, in that secluded place, whether one enters into giving with the thought of seclusion or the thought of non-seclusion, that non-secluded person becomes like entering the world of the mute, because he has lost the thought of fame to all people. The so-called "not perceiving as secluded" means that even if one gives with the thought of non-seclusion or with the thought of seclusion in various ways, it is not a true offering. This is also the case for all things such as the decline of self-nature, because I do not have the wisdom that abides in names. Therefore, giving to them is also not a true offering. Having shown how it is not a true offering, now one should speak the words used to offer the precepts: offering the precepts, the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha, the Sutras, the Vinaya, the Mother, the Teacher, the Preceptor. I, a householder, a novice monk, a zama, a maning, an expelled bhikshuni, one who lives by stealing, one who lives in a different place, one who should not live, a heretic, one who has entered heresy, one who has killed his mother, one who has killed his father, one who has killed an Arhat, one who has caused division in the Sangha, one who has maliciously drawn blood from the Tathagata, please accept my confession. I abide with you in pure conduct, or am content with enjoyment, these are the words of offering. Among them, the word "like" is to indicate the category, the words of offering are like that category, like that ritual, like that nature. Therefore, offering the precepts is not only achieved by verbally uttering those words, but even if one does not verbally utter them, and does not make a sign of abandonment, one can achieve offering. Therefore, offering can also be achieved through bodily gestures, and offering can also be achieved through verbal gestures. The word "offering" should be combined separately with the words from "precepts" to "preceptor." Similarly, the word "I" should also be combined with the words from "householder" to "Tathagata."
