It says, "Should not be protected." If there is no place to stay, the previously promised residence should not be protected. This is taught: If a monk has previously promised to stay in retreat, and if there is no residence in the latter half of the middle summer month (June in the Tibetan calendar) and the first half of the last summer month (July in the Tibetan calendar), then the previous promise of retreat should be broken and one should go elsewhere. One should promise to stay in the last promised retreat where there is a residence. If there is no residence even in the last promised retreat, what should be done then? Therefore, it says, "For the latter also, more than two months." From the word "also," it can be understood that if there is no place to stay, it should not be protected. Thus, the meaning of the words here is: Even if there is no residence in the last promised retreat, other residences promised for more than two months should not be protected. Even if there is no residence, one should stay for two months, and on the sixteenth day of the middle autumn month (August in the Tibetan calendar), one should go elsewhere, which is the final decision. If it is necessary to find another monastery to stay in, how should it be found? Therefore, it says, "It should be sought with the preparation of residence, work, and offerings." Among them, "the preparation of residence" refers to the preparation of residential houses. This also indicates the preparation for finding, that is, in which residential house the patron will provide especially. That "that" refers to the residence. "Should be sought" refers to the monks who are part of the Sangha, those who are suitable for staying. To whom should the monks who have not arranged a residence ask for two months? Therefore, it says, "If there is none, one should ask the eldest among the young people." If there is no other residence, one should ask the eldest among the young people. The text here is like this, but one should ask the eldest among those, and it is said that other distinctions should be made after that. In reality, even if the eldest has not asked, it can be done, which is allowed. Saying, "Even if there is, it is only a temporary residence," refers to asking the eldest among the younger generation for a temporary residence.

O! Here, the scripture says, "Because you and the Khenpo are the same person, you should report to him." In the interval of reporting matters, if there is no report, such a person, neither I nor he will do the work of serving, this matter is stated. Without reporting the dwelling place, for those who have broken vows and are of immoral conduct, I will not do services such as massaging feet, and such a person will not do it either, such a person will not serve me, nor will he allow me to serve, this is the final decision. In order to show the particularity of the general situation of not dwelling without staying, it is said, "If one is engaged in seeking a suitable place to dwell, then there is no fault in dwelling without staying." Not becoming a fault is being without fault. When is there no dwelling place? To whom is it? Therefore, it is to a suitable place to dwell. What kind of difference is there? Therefore, it is said, "Engaged in seeking." Who is engaged in seeking? It is the one who is engaged in seeking. The one who is engaged in seeking a suitable place to dwell, if there is no dwelling place, then there is no fault in dwelling without staying, it should be understood in this way. Then, until when is there no fault in dwelling without staying? Therefore, it is said, "Until the end of five days." The end of five days is the end of five days. Until the end of five days, there is no fault in dwelling without staying. If it is obtained, then it is suitable, meaning that if a place to dwell can be obtained, then the one who is engaged in seeking a suitable place to dwell should accept the given dwelling. Like this, here the scripture says, from the fundamental discussion, for the non-dweller, how long should the acquisition be canceled? Up to the close five days. This is also for those who do not give up effort. After showing the ritual of the fixed dwelling place, wanting to tell the ritual of the suddenly arrived dwelling place, therefore, it is said, "The one who arrives suddenly should rest and arrange a dwelling place on the second or third day." "After resting" means resting on the first day. The one who arrives suddenly, after resting on the first day, after that, arrange a dwelling on the second or third day.
