The statement "not to utter the sound of an elephant, the sound of a horse, the sound of a chief bull, the sound of a peacock, and the sound of a cuckoo" means not to utter sounds similar to those sounds. The statement "not to make the sound of a conch shell, cymbals, and a large drum" means not to make the sound of a conch shell and so on. The transgression that belongs to the basis of acquisition has already been explained. Now, intending to speak about the transgression of bathing, in order to indicate what the "bathing at other times" mentioned below is other than, it is said: "Other than the remaining half and two months of the Soga months, and the first of the summer months." The statement "other than the remaining half and two months of the Soga months" means the half month from the first day of the first summer month to the fifteenth day of the first summer month, and one month from the fifteenth day of the first summer month to the fifteenth day of the second summer month, other than those two and a half months. The statement "other than the first of the summer months" means other than the first month of summer, that is, one month from the fifteenth day of the second summer month to the fifteenth day of the third summer month. In short, the meaning is: "If one bathes other than the remaining half and two months of the Soga months, and the first month of summer." In those two and a half months, bathing is permitted as an antidote to the heat. At other times, if one feels hot on that day, one may also bathe. If asked: Will all monks there incur a transgression? Therefore, it is said: "Regarding the manner of obtaining the second food without clothes." This sutra is to illustrate the similarity. The second food without clothes is the second food without clothes. What kind of transgression will be incurred by a monk who obtains, accepts, and eats the second food without clothes? This transgression will be incurred by monks who are not sick, not working, and not on a journey. If asked: Will this transgression be incurred if it occurs in all other circumstances? Therefore, it is said: "If it is not moved by the wind." It means, if it is not moved and disturbed by the wind. If asked: To what extent should it be considered moved here? Therefore, the clothes

It is said, "Moving the edge of the garment is its end." The so-called "edge of the garment" means that moving and swaying one corner of the garment is its end. It is not limited to these situations alone; in order to illustrate other situations as well, it is said, "Not wetted by rain." A bhikkhu who is not wetted by rain is one who is not wetted by rain and bathes at other times. What is wetted by water is here considered wetted by rain. In order to explain what the end of being wetted by rain is, it is said, "Wetted by two drops." The end of being wetted by rain is being wetted by two drops. Where is it wetted? Therefore, it is said, "On the body," not on the garment. Here, the scripture states that if the body is wetted by two or three drops of rain during a drought. By way of argumentation, it is shown that for a bhikkhu who is sick, working, traveling on the road, being blown by the wind, or wetted by rain, there is no fault in bathing at other times, because it is timely. If following what leads to a downfall for bathing? Therefore, it is said, "At other times, not on a bathing day, bathing fifteen days before." The so-called "at other times" refers to the time other than the remaining half of the Soga month and the first month of summer, totaling three and a half months. The so-called "not on a bathing day, fifteen days before" means that the Blessed One said, "Bathe every half month." Starting from the day of bathing, one should not bathe within fourteen days, because that is not a bathing day and is also fifteen days before, so it is so. The so-called "bathing" means that bathing at that time will incur a downfall. The Blessed One said, "Bathe every half month." On the day of bathing, one should not take another bath, because that day is also counted as one day, and counting starts from that day.
