English

Having placed it, one should also bathe when it is not the right time. If the ritual is strict, one should not rely on indulgence. This refers to all situations. A strict ritual refers to the strict precepts set by the Bhagavan, such as "Bathe every half month, and if you violate it, you commit a downfall." Indulgence refers to the ritual of indulgence, except when it is time for illness, work, travel, wind, or rain, etc., relaxing the basis of learning and allowing indulgence. Therefore, if the ritual is strict, one should not rely on indulgence in all circumstances. Here, the scripture says that the Bhagavan said that in remote areas, ordination should be given by a group of five monks who uphold the Vinaya. If a monk has a group of ten, and ordination is still given by a group of five monks who uphold the Vinaya, is it considered to be ordained? Those nearby say that ordination has been given, but those who give ordination will commit a serious offense. Therefore, if there are strict rituals such as "Bathe every half month," then one should not rely on indulgent rituals in situations such as illness, work, travel, wind, or rain. The explanation of committing a downfall by bathing is finished. What must one do to commit a downfall by killing animals? Therefore, it is said, "Striking an animal with the intention to kill." "Intention to kill" refers to the intention to kill. "Animal" refers to striking livestock, etc., that is, striking with swords, etc. Is it at the very moment of striking? Therefore, it is said, "By that action, dying at that time or later." "Dying by that action" refers to the action of striking with the intention to kill. "At that time" refers to dying at the very moment of striking. "Dying later" refers to dying at another time after the time of striking. Even if only one action is done, for every being killed, one commits a downfall.

It will become a downfall. The body and what is related to it are non-different, like this and so on, all should be understood from the Parajika of killing. Regarding "For the image of a sentient being that is not a sentient being, it is only a misdeed," it is said that "the image of a sentient being" refers to the shape of a sentient being, such as a picture, etc., which is not a real sentient being and is not counted among the number of sentient beings, if struck, it is only committing a misdeed. Here, the scripture says in some commentaries that if one strikes an image made of wood or earth, one commits a misdeed. If it is the image of a domestic animal, then it belongs to the offense here, but if it is the image of something else, then it belongs to the offense of killing. Regarding "Killing a domestic animal incurs a downfall" has already been said. So, what if pursued will become a downfall that causes regret? Therefore, it is said, "You are not a Bhikshu, you have committed a Parajika," etc., if regret is caused by the meaning of not being a Bhikshu. The word "You are not a Bhikshu" shows that there is no substance of a Bhikshu. The word "You have committed a Parajika" shows that it has already been lost. To which Bhikshu is it said, "O venerable one, where do you have the conduct of a Shramana? Where do you have the conduct of a Brahmin? The venerable one is not a Brahmin renunciate," like this and so on, causing regret. "By the meaning of not being a Bhikshu" means which word has the meaning of not being a Bhikshu itself, that is the meaning of not being a Bhikshu. If regret is caused by a word that makes one understand that one is not a Bhikshu, then it will become an offense here. Here, the establishment of downfall depends on the intention, if it is understood with the intention of speaking of a person's faults, then it belongs to the offense there. If it is understood with the intention of not abiding in happiness, then causing regret belongs to the offense here. If it is understood with the intention of slander, then it belongs to the Sanghavasesa offense. If it is with the intention of everything, then it belongs to all offenses.

Speaking of people's faults, generating regret is called Sanghavasesa. In one expression, it is said that properly upholding the precepts is like being sick. If regret arises towards whom? Therefore, it is said: O Bhikshuni. Is it possible with any thought? Therefore, it is said: With a mind that generates discomfort. Here, discomfort should be understood as: generating an unpleasant mind towards the Bhikshu. Is it also possible with laughter? If regret arises even with laughter, then it becomes a complete transgression. Is it only generating regret? No. Therefore, it is said: Even if regret does not arise, it is possible. If that Bhikshu does not generate regret, then it also becomes a complete transgression. What is done by others is a misdeed. If it is not a matter of Bhikshuni, but other matters such as Sanghavasesa, and regret arises, then it becomes a misdeed. The Patayantika of generating regret has been explained. If one does what, will it become a Patayantika of gaga-tsil-byed? Therefore, it is said: To a Bhikshu, with fingers or fist or elbow or shoulder or head or chest or armpit or waist or thigh or knee or buttocks or toes, etc., touching in a gaga-tsil-byed manner. To a Bhikshu, with fingers, etc., in a gaga-tsil-byed manner, that is, touching in a way that causes arousal, that is, the sensory organ of the body and the sensory organ of the body come into contact with each other, if these two are experienced, it will become a transgression here. Even so, here the text says: If one touches the sensory organs of one's own or another's or both bodies, it is a misdeed. Therefore, the word 'etc.' also includes other parts of one's own body, but not clothes, etc. Touching non-body with non-body, and touching with hair and nails and teeth, etc., are all misdeeds. Is it possible to touch with any thought? Therefore, it is said: With a mind that causes arousal. Here, causing arousal means shrinking back.
