Thus it is. Here, the scripture states that Brahmins and faithful householders, for the sake of the monks, would arrange in their homes garments adorned with gold and silver, and garments trimmed with golden bells. The monks should not sit upon them. The Blessed One taught, 'All conditioned phenomena are impermanent.' One should fully enjoy the things to be given by the givers. Thus it was said. Among them, regarding those adorned with jewels and ornamented with gold and silver as well, it means one should sit upon a lion throne adorned with jewels and ornamented with gold and silver. Again, the word 'also' is to follow the intention of sitting with mindfulness of being threatened by impermanence. Like this, although all these lion thrones previously indicated are included, since the words are explicitly stated in the scripture, this sutra is listed separately. One should discard them, meaning the monks should discard those kinds of garments arranged on the lion throne. If there are no laypeople and novices, then for those who regard the Buddha image as the teacher, touching the Buddha image is not forbidden for the sake of a Dharma-related purpose. If there are no laypeople and novices, then for the monks who regard the Buddha image as the teacher, touching a Buddha image made of precious materials is not forbidden for the sake of a Dharma-related purpose. If it is for the purpose of offering, even if both (laypeople and novices) are present, there is no fault in touching. Regarding its materials as well, it means that regarding the materials of the Buddha image, ornaments, etc., if those two are not present, touching is not forbidden. If it is for the purpose of offering, even if those two are present, touching is not forbidden. One should not wear ornaments, meaning one should not wear bracelets and other ornaments. Here, the scripture states that therefore, a monk should not wear bracelets and anklets. If one wears them, it will be a serious offense. Similarly, one should not wear a mantra thread of five colors.

It is said that it goes up to "otherwise it will become a serious violation." For the purpose of healing, there is no fault. The so-called "should wear a seal" is an exception to the previously general rule. If you ask what kind of ornament, therefore it is said "not suitable to wear," you should wear the kind of seal that is not suitable as an ornament. If you ask what it is made of, therefore it is said "made of iron or copper or brass or amber or conch shell joints or wood or stone or earth or bamboo or horn," that is to say, made of any of those things. Here, the scriptures say that a monk should not wear a seal made of gold, etc. Nor should he wear a ring seal. Like this, there are five kinds of seals: made of brass, made of copper, made of amber, made of bamboo, and made of horn. Some scriptures say that these eight kinds of seals should be worn: made of iron, copper, brass, amber, conch shell joints, wood, stone, and earth. This is also an example of items other than jewels. The sign is that the sangha's seal has a Dharma wheel in the middle and goats on both sides. Below, write the name of the monastery owner. The so-called "write the name of the monastery owner below" means that the sangha's seal should be made like this: draw a Dharma wheel in the middle, draw two goats on both sides, and write the name of the monastery owner below the Dharma wheel. The so-called "the personal seal is a skeleton or skull" means that the personal seal should be drawn as a skeleton or skull. The so-called "do not comb hair with a toothbrush" means that you should not comb your hair with a toothbrush, because toothbrushes and the like are items to be used, so they should all be used. The so-called "this is an example" means that the word toothbrush is an example of other items that have become grooming items, and you should not comb your hair with other hair grooming items either. The so-called "do not look at your face with a mirror" means that you should not look at your face with a mirror. The so-called "even with water" means that even with water,
