The term "Oh" means that one should not ride and travel on a vehicle adorned with gold, Chinese silk, and other such embellishments. The phrase "No one other than the old and sick should do it" means that even if a monk has a need, no one other than the old and sick should travel by riding a vehicle. Here, the context is that the Blessed One permitted the venerable Pilindavatsa to ride, and the group of six monks began to travel by riding. Therefore, the Blessed One said: One should not travel in that way, as there is a fault. Thus, two types of people should be allowed to travel by riding: the elderly who are weakened by old age, and the sick who cannot endure suffering. In order to engage in listening to the Dharma, one should sit on a lion throne made of precious jewels, with the thought that impermanence is approaching. This means that for the purpose of proclaiming the Dharma to the listeners, one should sit on a lion throne made of precious jewels, with the thought, 'This too is threatened by impermanence.' Here, the context is that after the householder Anathapindika heard of this, he prepared lion thrones made of four kinds of precious jewels. The monks did not sit on them, and the Blessed One said: All conditioned things are impermanent, so one should sit on them and expound the Dharma. The phrase "In a house, if they have prepared clothes adorned with gold and silver and hung with bells, one should also recognize that they belong to householders" means that "in a house" refers to another householder's house. "They have prepared" means that the householders have prepared. "Adorned with gold and silver" means adorned with those. "Hung with bells" means covered with small bells. "Clothes" refers to those clothes adorned with gold and silver and hung with bells. "One should recognize that they belong to householders" means that one should recognize that those clothes belong to householders. The word "also" is to echo the phrase "one should sit on it with the thought that impermanence is approaching."
