Here the rule is: If a Bhikshu obtains a jewel, obtaining an uncut one, he commits a misdeed; obtaining a cut one, he commits a downfall. Just like a jewel, it is the same from pearls and vaidurya to right-spiraling conches. Also from others, if a Bhikshu obtains a jewel, obtaining an undrilled one, he commits a misdeed; obtaining a drilled one, he commits a downfall. Just like a jewel, it is the same from pearls and vaidurya to right-spiraling conches, so it is said. Necklaces and bracelets and armlets and necklaces and semodos themselves being in that state are also okay, meaning that the substance of necklaces and bracelets and armlets and necklaces and semodos is just that, being in that shape is permissible. This means that necklaces and bracelets and so on are made of gold and silver, and if they are in that shape, then gold and silver are the actual makers. Piwang and cymbals and wallari and mahati and sughoshaka and so on, if they have strings, that's okay, meaning that piwang and cymbals and wallari and mahati and sughoshaka and so on, if they have strings, and having strings is permissible. Here the rule is: If a Bhikshu obtains a piwang, obtaining one with strings, he commits a downfall; obtaining one without strings, he commits a misdeed. Conch shells and large drums and drums pataha and clay drums and so on, if they can make sounds, that's okay, meaning that if they can make sounds, it is permissible.

That which is called "what is made must be with an arrow" means that arrows and the like are permissible if they have arrowheads. That which is called "the body image must be with relics" means that a Buddha image made of precious jewels is permissible if it has relics. Khan Ma Thowa (phonetic transliteration) will be completely fulfilled. If there are no relics, then a minor offense is committed. If it is not made of precious jewels, there is no downfall even if there are no relics. If it has relics, then a minor offense is committed. If a stupa is made of precious jewels, it is the real thing only if it has relics. If anything is missing, a minor offense is committed. For the images of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas made of precious jewels, if they have their relics, or if they have the relics of the Buddha, a minor offense will be committed. Images of sons of the desireless (Sanskrit: Arahatputra, Son of Arhat) and the like, if they are not made of precious jewels, whether they have their bones or the relics of the Buddha, there is no offense. If it is made of precious jewels, it will be a minor offense just from the material. There is no offense in placing the perception of the teacher on it, which means that there is no offense in touching or causing to be touched those images with the perception of the teacher. That which is called "mother-of-pearl, crowns, bone rosaries, honeycombs, single-mouthed clay drums, bows, and things made like arrows are only half" means that touching or causing to be touched those things is a minor offense. Mother-of-pearl and the like are just examples, and jewels made of earth are also only half. That which is called "made like an arrow" means that one should understand that it is made like an arrow by making a small hole in wood and the like for the sake of appearance. That which is called "a golden cushion is not allowed" means that here the text says that if a monk sits on a golden cushion, he commits a minor offense. Thirty-third chapter. If there is danger and it does not harm oneself, one should hide or take away the property and gold of the Sangha and the stupa.
