It is shown that it is not already existing. It is like saying that the path where birds fly down is blocked. Except for the situations referred to in these two sutras, all the rest are the same place. Therefore, even if one sleeps with someone who is not fully ordained, such as someone living in another place, it may constitute a fundamental offense. If the path of travel is not blocked, then there is no fall. If the cover does not completely surround, then a similar offense is committed. Regarding "using one's own latch to bolt the door is also a different danger," it means: Whatever door belongs to the one who causes the fall is called one's own door, which is the door under one's own control. If, when sleeping with a woman, the door is not bolted with the latch belonging to that door, then the danger is also different, that is, the place is different. If the place is different, such as other places like the courtyard, other residences, other gatehouses, other stairwells, etc., it goes without saying that bolting the door with a latch is different. This also applies to sleeping with someone who is not fully ordained. If the Bhikshu who causes the fall is guarded by another Bhikshu or guarded by the female owner, then it is similar to the above situation. It means that if the Bhikshu who causes the fall is guarded by another Bhikshu or guarded by the female owner, then the situation of bolting the door with one's own latch when sleeping with a woman should be regarded as similar. Here, the scripture says that if the Bhikshu sleeps in the room of the stairwell and the woman sleeps in the gatehouse, then the Bhikshu should close and bolt the outer door, or arrange for a Bhikshu to guard. If the outer door is not closed and bolted, or a Bhikshu is not arranged to guard, but one becomes careless and falls asleep, then until dawn, it is an evil deed. When dawn arrives, one commits a fall. If one is guarded by the owner, then there is no fall. This is what the Buddha said. In different places, there is no fall if one is guarded by the owner, but in the same

Even when guarded by the owner, it becomes an offense because of sleeping together with a sexual partner. Even when guarded by the mother, etc., there is no downfall, therefore, the term "owner" mentioned here is merely an example. The phrase "in another room, it is crawling on the stairs" means that at the entrance of another room, crawling on the stairs should be understood as similar to blocking with a door bolt belonging to oneself. The phrase "not in another place, then there is no fault" means that "other" refers to a place other than the dwelling, i.e., the vicinity. For that vicinity which is not the dwelling itself, it is not that there is no fault. This explains that if the vicinity, etc., becomes the dwelling, then it will constitute a complete offense, and if it is not the dwelling, then it constitutes an offense. Volume Thirty-two. What should be done so that sleeping with one who is not fully ordained becomes an act of downfall? Therefore, it is said, "Sleeping with one who is not fully ordained in the same place for three nights." Sleeping with one who is not fully ordained in the same place for three nights and falling asleep constitutes a fundamental offense. The mention of "together" indicates that if both the fully ordained and the not fully ordained are sleeping and fall asleep in the same posture, then at that time it is shown to become fundamental. If one sleeps in one posture and the other sleeps in another posture, then it is an offense. If one does not fall asleep in one posture and the other sleeps, then there is no downfall, because sleeping together is not accomplished. At what time on the third night does sleeping with one who is not fully ordained become an act of downfall? Therefore, it is said, "at the end." The end of the night refers to the moment at which dawn appears, which is the meaning of the word "end." So, if dawn appears in all four of those places, and it is said that dawn appearing is the only thing that constitutes a downfall, then how is it said "at the end"? There is no fault, because the moment at which dawn appears can easily be understood as the end of the night, therefore it is explained in that way. The phrase "in front is an offense" refers to the night's
