It is said that contemplating the purpose of righteous actions of the Teacher, Dharma, Sangha, and those who practice chastity, as well as contemplating the work of bowls and colors, is the blessing of time. The purpose of righteous actions of the Teacher, Dharma, Sangha, and those who practice chastity, whatever it may be, such as offering lamps or incense, is the purpose for which it is needed, that is, touching the flame. Whoever touches the flame with the purpose of righteous actions is touching the flame with the purpose of righteous actions. Its essence is the purpose of righteous actions. To contemplate this is to contemplate necessarily, and to contemplate the work of bowls and colors, these are the blessing of time. That is to say, one should think and observe in this way. Here, the scripture is: It is said that time should be blessed. Since they did not understand for what purpose to bless, the Blessed One said: One should bless with the actions of the Teacher, the Dharma, the Sangha, the Khenpo, the Acharya, and those who practice chastity. Mentioning the work of bowls and colors refers to the work of one's own bowl and Dharma robes. Whether one thinks of doing the work of the bowl or doing the work of colors, this is the blessing of time. The so-called blessing for a long time refers to combining it with understanding time. Here, the scripture is: When monks are doing the work of bowls and the work of colors, they are often forgetful, and touching these they feel regret. The Blessed One said: Time should be blessed for a long time. If one does something, what would become a transgression related to fire? Therefore, it is said: At the top. If one asks what kind of way this is, therefore, it is said: By passing it to others, such as the moon, the sun, and the torch wheel, etc. Children light wooden sticks with fire, and pass them from one person's hand to another person's hand, this game of passing to others is passing to others. He looks at the moon

Making torches, making it like the sun, making fire wheels, etc., is playing and frolicking. What is playing and frolicking with? Therefore, the word "fire" is spoken. If it is only playing and frolicking, will it incur a downfall? Therefore, it is said, "A bhikshu who has not been blessed by the season, being in a state of illness, touches fire." If a bhikshu who has not been blessed by the season, being in a state of illness, touches fire. How does he touch it? Therefore, it is said, "Himself or by command." He touches it himself, or commands another to touch it. If it is only the touch of playing and frolicking, will it incur a downfall? Therefore, it is said, "Igniting, extinguishing, touching and untouched firewood, pushing and including carrying, and digging up piles of firewood." A bhikshu who has not been blessed by the season, being in a state of illness, himself or by command, ignites a fire, or extinguishes a fire, or pushes firewood touched by fire, or pushes firewood untouched by fire, or carries firewood containing fire, or pushes, or digs up piles of firewood, all of these will incur a downfall. Thus, the meaning of the words here appears as follows: A bhikshu who has not been blessed by the season, being in a state of illness, himself or commands another to ignite a fire, will incur a downfall. Similarly, extinguishing a fire, or pushing firewood touched by fire, or pushing firewood untouched by fire, or pulling out firewood connected with fire, or piling up firewood, or digging, all of these will incur a downfall. The rule here is: If a bhikshu ignites a fire, he should be blessed by the season. If he ignites it without being blessed, he will incur a downfall. If a bhikshu extinguishes a fire, he should be blessed by the season. If he extinguishes it without being blessed, he will incur a downfall. Similarly, pushing a torch, or carrying a torch, or putting in firewood, all of these will incur a downfall. Pushing is repairing. Allowing pushing is allowing others to repair, therefore, here it is also said "commands another." A half-dead fire refers to: a fire that is not completely extinguished.
