The question of "How much is allowed after noon?" is answered as follows: Eat as much as is allowed on the third day. It is also permissible to eat unapproved fruits, ungranted food, and things held in hand at improper times. That is to say, a monk who has fasted may eat unapproved fruits, ungranted food, and things held in hand at improper times, such as in winter. The repetition of the words "also" and "again" is to summarize that neither is a fault. All of these are said under the premise of "if other methods do not succeed." Then, who should eat these things? Therefore, it is said, "Oh, without food." Oh, a monk without food. Is it allowed in all cases? Therefore, it is said, "When very hungry." The state of being very hungry is very hungry, and if the monk is very hungry, then eating is allowed, meaning hunger that endangers life. Also, the meaning of "roots, etc., are also" is that a monk who has no food and is very hungry is allowed to eat unapproved roots, etc., at improper times. Regarding "It is also permissible to pick, dig, and prepare oneself," the word "also" in "oneself also" also includes having others do it. A monk who has no food and is very hungry is allowed to pick fruits, etc., dig roots, etc., and prepare cooking himself, and he can also have others do it. When one wants to start doing things that are allowed, such as ungranted, unapproved, and eating at improper times, if the sound of the north is unpleasant, one should make a well-known thought. That is, if the sound of the north is unpleasant, it is related to other things.

There is no name of "is", and those sentient beings do not think of individuals, so they use the name of taking by themselves, etc. Because the mind is upright and good, there is no individual thought of my share or someone else's share, or taking from someone else, etc. Therefore, that bhikkhu should also do all the things that were not given and received at that time with such a thought. If the hand is wet and there are leaves, one should not drink water with a spoon, which means that if the hand is wet and there are leaves, one should not drink water from the spoon. If there are none, one should not not cover it, which means that if the hand is wet and there are no leaves, one should not drink water with a spoon without covering it. If the spoon itself has water, one should not leave the mouth uncovered, which means that if the spoon itself has water, one should not leave the mouth uncovered, and should not hold it without a lid. Here, saying "itself has water" is just an example, even if there is no water, one should not leave the mouth uncovered. There are three types of lids for the spoon, namely made of wood, made of stone, and made of earth, which means that the lid of the spoon can be made of these three materials. The base of the spoon should be held with wood or stone, which means that where the spoon is to be placed is called the base of the spoon, and that base should be held with wood or stone. When leaves are used as containers, there is no fault even if there is no giving and receiving, which means that when leaves are used as plates, there is no fault even if there is no giving and receiving. If food and other things are done on leaves that have not been given and received, there is no fault at that time. For this, there is no difference between cut and uncut, which means that for this used as a container, the leaves cut from trees, etc., and those not cut, should be known to have no difference because they have been given and received. If there are no others, use the uncut ones, which means that if there are no other cut leaves and other containers, in order to use them as containers, one should use the uncut leaves and use them as plates. If there are others, then connected to trees, etc.

It is not appropriate to drink beverages with the lips, as it turns into laughter. The transgression of hoarding has been explained. Now, intending to speak about the transgression of eating without being given, it is said that if there is no one else to give or the ability to give, then one should take and eat what the patron has sincerely given. For all eating without being given, one should bless it when hearing unpleasant sounds, and this should be known in all cases. If there is no other food that has already been given, or no one to give it, then if the food is sincerely given by the patron, one should take and eat it. If there is any other, then it will only become a fault. The situation where there is no one else is as follows: a monk takes alms and places them in the monastery, then goes outside. A householder also brings alms and places them on top of the previous alms. When the monk returns and sees other alms placed on top, he feels regret and does not eat. The monks then report this to the Blessed One, who says: "If there is someone who can give, then eat what has already been given. If there is no one, then remove the later offering and eat the earliest one, and do not regret it." The situation where there is no ability to give is as follows: in the same context, many merchants invite the Buddha and the monastic community for a feast. They pile up the food, and a fire breaks out in the shops. To put out the fire, they are pouring water and it is raining, and the monks do not know what to do. The Blessed One says: "Because they have given it sincerely, one should bless and eat it when hearing unpleasant sounds, and do not regret it." Now, intending to speak about the definition of giving, within a clear boundary, situated in a direction where it can be obtained, being able to lift the body or something related to it by extending the hand, even a non-human who has not taken full ordination wants to give, and so on.
