For example, we, and things are in a suitable place, but their accomplishment comes from an unsuitable place. Separated from the continuation of growth, such as palm trees, etc., fruits that grow from an unsuitable place, naturally fall off without being picked, separated from the branches, and are in a suitable place, these all depend on growth, so they are only matured inside. Seeds mature inside the boundary, sown outside the boundary, from which roots and buds etc. grow, that is not matured inside the boundary, because that is another growth. Objects that grow inside the boundary, grow outside the boundary, such as saffron etc. Similarly, milk that has matured inside, transferred to another place and turned into yogurt, that is still matured inside. Milk produced by a cow that has matured inside the boundary, that is also matured inside, because the milk is produced from inside the boundary. If the vessel is located in a certain direction, that also equals cooking in that place, this is to say, the vessel that serves as the basis for the object to be cooked, if it is located in an unsuitable direction, then it should also be known that, through this reason, the object being cooked also equals cooking in an unsuitable place. The object being cooked is merely placed in an unsuitable place, not only is it cooked in an unsuitable place, but also through the way of transmission, there are also cases of cooking in an unsuitable place. For example, in an unsuitable place, placing a support etc. on unclean ashes, or on an iron tripod etc., placing pots etc. in which to cook meat etc., that is like cooking in an unsuitable place. The cook being there itself does not change it. This is to say, the object being cooked is located in the unsuitable place of the cook itself, it will not make the object being cooked cooked in a suitable place and become cooked in an unsuitable place. Here it is shown like this: if the cook is located inside the boundary, while the object being cooked is located outside the boundary.

If it can be cooked by touching it slightly with the hand, then the material to be cooked will not be cooked inside the container. Saying "a person is not the container itself" means: the fire pit is not like the container itself, but it is like the container itself. This is what is shown here: whatever material is to be burned on the fire pit that exists inside the container, being burned is the same as being cooked inside the container. Burning on the flame is not, because the flame is like the sky itself. Saying "what is taken out from it and what arises is not it itself" means: from the fire that exists inside the container, some take the fire out with firewood etc., or the fire arises by itself due to the influence of wind etc., these are not it itself, nor is it the self-nature of that place, nor does it belong to that place. Saying "the surroundings are the place itself," "place" means: because one is to abide there, it is a place, the surroundings of that place are the place itself. If one asks, how long is the surrounding path the place itself? Therefore, it is said "one bow," starting from the outside walls etc., within one bow is the surroundings of that place, therefore it is the same as the place itself. There are two kinds of places: covered and uncovered. Among them, temporarily speaking of the uncovered situation, it is said "up to the point of reaching the sky above," for a place that is not covered above, even up to the point where the head can reach the sky is the place itself. Speaking of the covered situation, it is said "the inside is also," for a place that is covered above, the sky inside is also the place itself. Saying "the upper floor is also it itself" means: the eaves of the upper floor above the lower house are also the lower house itself, because the middle of the sky clearly enters all the upper floors. This is what is shown here: if the monks live in the lower house, they should not designate the house on the upper floor as habitable, because it is not appropriate. Here, the scripture speaks from a scattered perspective, the house on the lower floor where the monks can live, and the floor of that house can also be a habitable house.
