If one says, "Please wait a moment," or "Please go for a moment," or "Please wait a moment, sir," then at that time, saying these three things will not constitute abandonment. "It is okay" is also equivalent to "Yes." Regarding that, if the tone of "wait a moment" is added, if it is not abandonment, then what need is there to mention other situations? Wanting to speak of the characteristics of soup, it is said, "That which cannot make a tilted spoon stand upright is the very nature of soup." Wherever a tilted spoon is inserted, whatever soup, etc., cannot make a tilted spoon stand upright is the very nature of soup. This is taught, saying: If a tilted spoon is inserted into the soup and it cannot make it stand upright, that is the very nature of soup. Five fingers not appearing is called "thin porridge." On whatever thin porridge, if five fingers are placed and the traces do not appear, that is fingers not appearing; five fingers not appearing is the very nature of thin porridge. In order to explain the form of what is said as "giving," it is said, "Resistance is not giving," resistance is not giving. This is taught, saying: If someone, with a mind of resistance, gives to a monk, and the monk also knows this and says, "I do not need this, please go," even so, it will not constitute abandonment, because there is no giving in that. Here, the scripture says that a certain monk, having previously had a thought of resistance, gave to a monk, and later, in a state of being an ordinary person, if he asks others for that giving, what offense will he commit? A close relative will not commit an offense, it is said. The so-called "having a thought of resistance" refers to someone who has the thought, "This person is very resistant." The characteristics of abandonment have been explained. Chapter Twenty-Seven. Having explained abandonment, now the remaining matters will be explained, meaning that residing outside the boundary, in an unreachable place, and in a place not in front will not give rise to remaining matters. It means that those who reside outside the boundary, reside in an unreachable place, and reside in a place not in front will not have monks

There will be no extra action. The so-called "extra" means that it has been made into a surplus and discarded. A monk who makes extra actions, discarding the leftovers he has eaten, is called "extra." A monk who makes extra actions, neither making a surplus nor discarding it, is called "not making extra." Here, the scripture is a separate explanation, the so-called "not making extra" means not making a surplus, not discarding, not completely abandoning. Therefore, contrary to the former, within the boundary and in the obtainable direction, and in front, a monk will have extra actions, which is the characteristic of temporary abandonment. From "for actions not taken in hand, it will not happen," whatever is the object of extra action, for those not taken in hand, extra action will not happen, it will not happen if placed high, nor will it happen if placed in a smeared place. Here the scripture says that the monk washed his hands and made giving and receiving. The so-called "it will not happen in the sky" refers to the category of "outside the boundary." The so-called "for what is unsuitable and mixed, it is not what should be done," means that for unsuitable food and mixed food, it is not what should be made into extra objects. Then, who should do the extra action? Therefore, it is said, "Without giving up the place, it should be done," that is, the monk who has not given up the place of eating food, that is, has not given up the place, he should make the extra object. Is it only the unpermitted monk who should do the extra action? Therefore, it is said, "Through the observation of not eating, it is also possible," the so-called "through the observation of not eating" means that one observes that today I will not eat other food, and by observing in this way, he should also do the extra action. Through the word "also," it means that if one has not made the observation of not eating, let alone how it should be done. Is it possible to do it without reporting? Therefore, it is said, "After reporting, it should be done," that is, please listen, venerable ones, I, the monk, named so-and-so, want or do not want, abandon, completely perfect, and ultimately obtain from prohibitions and food.
