From the previous root, if it is said that "a bhikṣuṇī is also crossing and going on the road," then that should also be adopted here. Thus, the meaning of the words here will arise: Any bhikṣu, whether or not he has previously embraced a bhikṣuṇī, if they together at the same time, cross a waterway in the same boat, then every krosa is a fundamental offense. Every half krosa is a misdeed. Unless both banks are obstructed by one of the eight obstacles. If only one bank is obstructed, then the bhikṣu and bhikṣuṇī should dwell on the other bank that is not obstructed. Is this the case in all circumstances? Therefore, it is said, "Unless directly crossing to the other side," if not directly crossing to the other side, but going against the current or with the current, then this fault will arise. Therefore, "entering because of tilting, or sinking, or avoiding whirlpools, or oars, or the hull breaking, or changing direction due to holding the oar, there is no fault," this should be connected with "directly crossing to the other side, therefore entering because of tilting, or sinking, or the reason for avoiding whirlpools, or the reason for the oars and the hull breaking, or because of holding the oar, changing direction from the current in the opposite direction or with the current, there is no fault." "Tilting" refers to the tilting of the water flow. "Sinking" refers to the sinking of the riverbank. "Whirlpool" refers to the great water flow swirling and churning. "Avoiding" refers to avoiding tilting, sinking, and whirlpools. "Oar" refers to the large oar used for rowing. "Hull" refers to the keel of the boat. "Holding the oar" refers to holding up the sail. "Changing direction" refers to going against the current or with the current from the water flow. The downfall of embarking on a boat with a bhikṣuṇī has been explained. Twenty-sixth chapter. If asked: For the downfall of being alone, which are the limbs of the maker? For this,

Therefore, just the woman alone, and without the custom of crowds, being in a secluded place, and with protection, and a distance of one arrow-shot, are the actors, thus it is said. Regarding "just the woman alone," the word "just" is a distinction of the woman. The monk is alone, it should be understood through the context itself. The so-called "without the custom of crowds, being in a secluded place," means that without the custom of many crowds, that place is secluded. The so-called "with protection," means that place is protected by walls and so on. Here, the scripture says it is protected by walls, protected by shadows, and protected by curtains. This is merely symbolic, and also includes darkness and so on. The so-called "one arrow-shot distance," means that if she sits within one arrow-shot distance of the woman, then this becomes an offense for the monk. If asked, in what situation are they the actors? Therefore, it is said, "in sitting." Although this is in reference to women, it should also be understood as applying to both. If asked, what is the nature of that sitting? Therefore, it is said, "that is merely putting down the buttocks." It is considered sitting. Regarding "the downfall of sitting alone," it has been explained. Now, wanting to speak of the downfall of standing alone, after accepting the forms mentioned in the precepts just explained, some differences are to be stated, therefore it is said, "bhikṣuṇī and o." In the place where woman was previously mentioned, here the word "bhikṣuṇī" is to be inserted. In the precepts just explained, wherever woman is mentioned, the word "bhikṣuṇī" should be specifically inserted to be understood. Therefore, here it is the bhikṣuṇī who is the actor, not the woman. Thus, the meaning of the words here is: just the bhikṣuṇī alone, and without the custom of crowds, being in a secluded place, and with protection, and a distance of one arrow-shot, are the actors. If asked, in what situation are they the actors? Therefore,

It is said, "For standing up." Previously, it was said in the place of "for sitting down," but here, it is specifically said, "for standing up." Monks and nuns. The transgression of standing alone, that has been explained. // The transgression of eating what a nun has caused to be done, wanting to say this, therefore it is said, "Knowing is primary." Here also, the name "knowing is primary," and the name "primarily recognizing," are used to connect. Thus, here the scripture is, in the Pratimoksha Sutra, it is also said, "Any monk knowingly." In its explanation, it is also said, if a monk, if he knows and eats it, if a nun causes it to be done, if the nun knows that it is a nun who caused it to be done. For whom is it primarily recognizing? Therefore, it is said, "The nun causing it to be done itself." The thing caused to be done is the thing caused to be done itself. The nun causing it to be done itself, if one knows it in this way, then for that object, it is primarily recognizing. Here, "causing to be done" means, causing to do. That is, if one instructs with words and causes it to be done with verbal expression, then, with letters and so on, it is a misdeed, because it is said so. Here the scripture is, from the request, letters and handwritten documents and calculations and dispatching and transmitting and secretly causing to do begging and eating, it is a misdeed. How is it causing to be done itself? Therefore, with untrue qualities and so on. Here the scripture is, if it is true that one is a Stream-enterer and a Once-returner and a Non-returner and an Arhat, there is no transgression. If it is true that one is a Sutra-holder and a Vinaya-holder and a Matrika-holder, there is no transgression. For whom is it causing to be done itself? Therefore, it is said, "For the uninvited guest." That is, one is both a guest and uninvited, so it is an uninvited guest, that is for him. Even if invited, it remains.
