Furthermore, if that bhikṣu is going elsewhere and happens to meet a bhikṣu coming back on the road, if he has forgotten his dwelling and has not collected what is uncovered, he should entrust it to the one coming back in order to collect it. If he has promised, it is his duty to do so when he arrives, which means: if the returning bhikṣu promises, saying, "I will go there and collect it," then when he arrives at the place of the dwelling, it is his duty to collect the dwelling. Here, the rule is that the bhikṣu should also promise the bhikṣu and respectfully collect it. If he does not collect it as promised, he will commit a serious offense, it is said. Saying "coming back from the road" is only an example, as it applies to others as well. If he is leaving the dwelling and does not encounter danger, he should collect the dwelling, which means: if the bhikṣu is leaving the dwelling and does not encounter danger, and there is no obstacle to discipline or life, etc., if the dwelling is safe, he may stay or not stay uncovered, but he should collect it. Here, the rule is that from minor matters, the bhikṣu should collect the dwelling and leave. If he does not collect it, he will commit a serious offense, it is said. Saying "if he does not encounter danger" is to eliminate the concern that if he collects the dwelling, there may be a delay, and there may be a danger to his life, etc. If it becomes dirty, he should shake it off, which means: if the dwelling is soiled by dirt, etc., while walking, he should shake it off outside in the wind, etc. Here, the rule is that from "Mother," from "the bhikṣu prepares to go" to "if the dwelling becomes dirty, he should shake it off" is what is said. He should offer it, which means: when the bhikṣu prepares to go, if he uses the dwelling of the sangha or another person, if time permits and he does not encounter danger, he should return it to its source. Or he should entrust it, which means: if time does not permit and he will encounter danger, he should entrust the dwelling to another. To whom? Therefore, the bhikṣu

The saying called "Lao" is like this. If there is none, it is called "Giving to Shramanera Lao", meaning: if there is no Bhikshu, then entrust it to the Shramanera. If there is no Shramanera either, then entrust it to the householder, meaning: if there is no Shramanera either, then entrust it to the householder. If all of these are not there, then look around in all four directions, hide the key and then leave, meaning: if all those who can be entrusted are not there, in order to leave, look around in all four directions, hide the crooked key etc., so that others cannot see it, and then leave. If you see a Bhikshu on the road, tell him the direction of the key, meaning: if I see a Bhikshu belonging to that place coming on the road, tell that Bhikshu you meet on the road the direction where the key is hidden. If (the Bhikshu) comes, but (the monastery) is invited to another patron's house and the door is closed, then put the cushion next to the wall or tree and then enter, meaning: if the Bhikshu comes back after leaving, and the Bhikshus are invited to another patron's house and the door of the monastery is closed, then that Bhikshu should put his own cushion next to the wall or tree near the monastery, and enter the patron's house where the Bhikshus are invited for food. Mentioning the wall or the tree is merely an example of sheltering from day and night, and it can also be placed in other suitable places. Just as it is said here, the scripture does not say the wall, but says to put it in a place where it will not be damaged by the sun. There, lend the cushions to them, meaning: the Bhikshus, in that patron's house to which they are invited, lend the cushions related to the monastery to them. Do not send them back yourself, meaning: the Bhikshus should not send the cushions back from that patron's house. That is the work of laypeople and Shramaneras, meaning: sending cushions is only the work of laypeople and Shramaneras. Here it is said like this: laypeople and Shramaneras should send those cushions to the monastery. If there are no (laypeople and Shramaneras), then in order to transport them, entrust them to a layperson and then leave, meaning: if there are no laypeople and Shramaneras, in order to transport the cushions
