That separation and combination are not counted as sentient beings means: Here, it refers to dwellings and so on. If the two are dedicated to one and then transferred to another, there is also a fault. It is said: If the gains dedicated to other dwellings are transferred to other items such as a monk's seat, then both the combination and the actual situation will be at fault. That even just one side is also the case means: Even just one side of the separation and combination will only be at fault. It is said: For example, all the steps of a staircase can be counted as one staircase, but if a donor dedicates one step of the staircase to a certain part of the staircase, and the monk transfers this step to another part of the staircase, then there will be a fault in both situations. That there is no downfall in searching for leftover eaters, animals, etc., and not finding them means: Searching for the food dedicated to leftover eaters, animals, etc., if not found, even if transferred to others, there is no downfall. It is said: Searching for the food dedicated to leftover eaters, animals, etc., if not found, even if converted from other foods, there is no downfall. That the image of the Sugata can be lent to others means: The image of the Sugata, the Buddha Bhagavan, the image of the body, other ornaments, etc., can be lent to other images, temporarily given in the manner of borrowing. It is said: If the image of the Bhagavan, other ornaments, etc., are lent to others for the purpose of offering to other images, then there is no fault. That there is a fault if one dedicates but does not give means: If one dedicates and says that one will give to so-and-so, but then does not give it to that person, then there will be a fault. Twenty-second chapter. That going outside the boundary, the Sangha performs the blessing, means: Going outside the boundary, if the Sangha performs the blessing on the gains of the deceased's belongings, etc., then there is a fault. It is said: The gains dedicated to the Sangha, the monk

If one goes outside the monastery to bless, it becomes a transgression. If the assembly does not distribute, it means that if as many monks as should receive a share from it, if they do not gather together and distribute the gains, then at that time, the monks who distribute without gathering will commit a transgression. Even without blessing, it means that if one distributes the gains such as the belongings of the deceased without blessing, it is also a transgression. Regarding taking commonly owned gains by one, two, or three from the Sangha, commonly owned gains refer to things like summer gains, which are commonly owned. If one, two, or three monks from the Sangha take them, it is a transgression. This is taught: If a gain commonly owned by the Sangha is taken by one person, or if two or three take it, then those who take it commit a transgression, because others are also owners. If those who take the gain are also owners, why is it a transgression? Therefore, it is said, "Because others have not lost their share in it," meaning that the monks other than those who took the gain also commonly own those gains, because they have not lost their share and are present there. This is taught: In this way, taking the gain, others have not lost their share, therefore those who take the gain commit a transgression. This is established for those without a stealing mind; if there is a stealing mind, what kind of transgression will occur? Therefore, it is said, "If there is a stealing mind, it is stealing," meaning that if one transfers with a stealing mind, then everything is stealing, and one should know from what basis the transgression of stealing occurs. Here, the text is, if a Bhikshuni Brahmin's daughter asks, if any monk dwells alone in a place, and people offer robes to the Sangha, clearly stating that they are for distribution to the Sangha, then if that monk takes those robes, he thinks, "Like this, I dwell alone in this place, for the distribution to the Sangha."

If something needing repair happens, I should dust, conceal, and bless this garment that needs repair. One should generate the thought and express in words: "This dusted, concealed, and blessed garment is mine." If this is not done, then that monk should not possess that garment alone. If he possesses it alone, he commits a misdeed, because other monks also have general ownership of that garment. If one takes an offering dedicated to the Sangha outside the boundary and claims it as one's own, it becomes a misdeed. However, if one steals those things with the intention to steal and claims them as one's own, it becomes a serious offense. The same applies to two or many more. The term "many more" refers to three or more. If one does not reside in a monastery, one should place the belongings belonging there in another monastery and not dedicate them elsewhere. This was said. In addition, this should be stated: "Do not abandon the monastery carelessly," which means that without the harm of enemy armies, thieves, etc., one should not carelessly abandon an empty monastery without consideration. "One with attachment should be placed there as a guard," which means that whichever monk has a strong attachment to that monastery, that one with attachment should be placed there as a guard to protect the monastery. "If the Sangha does not arrive, ten years should be spent," which means that if the Sangha does not arrive, the monk left in that monastery should spend ten years in that very monastery. How should one spend it? Therefore, it is said, "Five by alms," which means that the monk should spend five years in that monastery by means of alms. "If a patron does not appear at that time, then another five years should be spent together with the nearby monastery," which means that if, after those five years have passed in that monastery, a patron does not appear from prison, etc., then the other five years should be spent living together in common with the nearby monastery. Here, some texts say, "Five by merit, five by...
