Furthermore, the direct knowledge of transgressions, etc., is the direct knowledge of transgressions, etc. The attainment of individual liberation and extensive exposition is the attainment of individual liberation and extensive exposition. Likewise, for everything, it should be treated as a single statement. Among them, the direct knowledge of non-transgressions is necessary for disciples, etc., to apply to actions that should and should not be done. The direct knowledge of lightness and heaviness is necessary for confessing gross offenses. Thus, some gross offenses should be confessed within the boundary, in the assembly of the Sangha. Some are outside the boundary. Some are confessed to seven people, some to five, and some to four. The attainment of individual liberation and extensive exposition indicates the meaning of abiding in the Vinaya. Saying "extensive exposition" means that all Vinaya should be understood as being summarized, and all Vinaya is the extensive exposition of individual liberation. Here, the attainment of individual liberation and extensive exposition should be understood from the words. In terms of meaning, it is accomplished by transgressions and non-transgressions, etc. Thus, from the Vinaya, one also knows transgressions, knows non-transgressions, knows lightness, knows heaviness, recites the Pratimoksha Sutra, and extensively recites and attains it. Saying "recitation" means that here it shows that one receives it with the intention of reciting from the preceptor and Khenpo, etc. Saying "attainment" means that it shows that it is properly established in oral recitation. The twenty-first of the fifth chapter. In which monastery, if there are monks who are ten years old or older, and who do not possess any of the five qualifications, and if there is no fifth elder in that monastery, and no one who possesses the qualifications, how should it be accomplished? Answer: If there is no elder, then one should rely on the younger ones, as it is said. If none of the five elders possess any of the qualifications, then the ritual is like this. Here, the scriptural authority is also like this: If a venerable monk, having received full ordination, is sixty years old, and he does not recite the Pratimoksha Sutra, does not recite the extensive exposition, and does not attain it, should he also rely on others? Should the attendant also rely on others and live? Thus it is said. Here, being sixty years old means.

It is merely symbolic. Even if eighty years old, one should stay relying on others. If there is no monk with five musical instruments, one should stay relying on a young monk with five musical instruments. If asked whether all the rules of dependence should be followed, the answer is: except for prostration. It means that except for the elder prostrating and bowing to the younger, one should follow and abide by the other rules of dependence. If a monk abides, how is it shown to abide accordingly? If one enters the path, should one also abide by them? No, therefore it is said: If one is five years old and possesses the last combination, one may travel without a designated residence. It means that if one is five years old and possesses the last combination, one may travel and wander without a designated residence. The last combination means: knowing the transgressions and non-transgressions, the light and heavy offenses, and the individual liberation and the vast departure. Because it is shown at the end of all combinations, it is the last. If asked: Here, is it important to be five years old? Or is it important to possess the last combination? The answer is: Here, both are important. If one possesses the last combination but is not yet five years old, one should not go. If one is five years old but does not possess the last combination, one should not go. Therefore it is said: Otherwise, even if one is a possessor of three knowledges, one should not go. It means that if one is not five years old, or if one is five years old but does not possess the last combination, even if one possesses the three knowledges—knowledge of previous lives, knowledge of death and rebirth, and knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements—one should not travel without a designated residence. Just like this, if a venerable one possessing three knowledges and abandoning three stains is not five years old and does not possess five qualities, one should not travel without a designated residence, nor should one attend and serve. Because it has been said so. Therefore, just as the possessor of three knowledges is not allowed here, it is the same for others. This is the chapter on abiding. Because it is said that after inquiring about obstacles, a chapter division is made for complete purification, therefore from here onwards...
