Should be held. The teaching said: Except for those made of precious materials used by the attendants. Snuff containers, offered drinking cups, needles and syringes, eye medicine boxes, medicine bowls, footstools, small stools, and medicine mortars should be held. Iron hooks should have loops attached, like all that was said, from "How should one hold it?" to "How should one attach it?" when asked, the teaching said, "Except for those made of precious materials used by the attendants," such words exist. Copper, zinc, canes, and wooden bowls should not be owned, the sound called "bowl" is connected to each of copper, etc., connected as "copper bowls should not be owned," etc. Those that have been owned or others as well, if they must be fully used, then they should be fully used with a medicine bowl, regarding this, "those that have been owned" refers to copper etc. bowls, before the time of ordination, owned before ordination. "Others as well" refers to those not owned and related to others. "If they must be fully used" refers to when such a situation arises. "Fully used with a medicine bowl" refers to when such a situation arises, those copper etc. bowls that have been owned and not owned, are offered as medicine bowls, and one should fully enjoy eating and drinking with those, it is not the case that all copper etc. bowls should be completely discarded. One should not give alms etc. like an unblessed bowl. The teaching of the earlier sutra is this, those that have not been placed, should not be placed, so it was said. The teaching of the later sutra is this, those that have been placed, should be fully used with a medicine bowl, one should fully enjoy, so it was said. Speaking of bowls in passing, this should be said, there are two that can be blessed, those made of iron and those made of earth, referring to bowls that can be blessed.

There are only two kinds: those made of iron and those made of earth. If you want to explain what the treasure mentioned in "possessing treasures" is, then say: pearls, mani jewels, lapis lazuli, white orpiment, coral, silver, gold, the essence of gems, ser resin, red ones, right-spiraling conch shells, etc., these are treasures. When it comes to pearls, it excludes crystal, fire crystal, and glass. It also excludes magnets that have become treasures, because magnets that have become stones are not treasures, because they themselves do not have the nature of treasures. What is called silver is raw silver. What is called gold is natural gold. In the Pratimoksha Sutra, only these two are mentioned, that is, "If a bhikkhu takes or causes to take gold and silver with his own hands," know that this is just an example, because in other distinctions it is said that taking or causing to take pearls, etc., is also a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. Therefore, taking pearls, mani jewels, lapis lazuli, etc., is also a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. Taking copper, etc., which are not treasures, but things with signs that can be used for trading, know that it is a Dukkata offense. The word "etc." includes the relics of the Buddha, etc. For things that cannot be used for trading, it is a reproachful offense. What is called not being able to be used for trading means not being able to be bought and sold. If you take or cause to take pearls, etc., that cannot be used for trading, that is, cannot be bought and sold, then both of these actions are reproachful offenses, which is synonymous with Dukkata offense. It is explained here that if pearls, etc., are damaged by fire, etc., to the extent that they cannot be traded, then taking or causing to take them is a Dukkata offense. For example, like red lotus jewels, etc., that have not become treasures. In order to explain this, it should also be explained in the same way in the following training "using things with signs," so it is said "also in the following." There, for things that cannot be used for trading, it is a reproachful offense, this is a synonym. Can be traded

How should one understand what is meant by 'unsuitable'? Therefore, 'unsuitable' refers to: cracked, broken, fragmented, burnt, previously used, unmade, without marks, and altered. 'That' refers to: unsuitable as collateral. 'Cracked' refers to: having cracks, whether or not they are glued together. 'Broken' refers to: having holes. 'Fragmented' refers to: lacking one part. 'Burnt' refers to: when a jewel comes into contact with fire and is no longer a jewel, becoming unsaleable, this should be understood. 'A small amount' refers to: only the remaining part with marks is damaged, not completely turned to ashes, therefore taking it is not a fault. 'Previously used' refers to: previously traded, but the marks are no longer remembered, i.e., the time of trading on the marked item is unknown in the world. 'Unmade' refers to: the marked item has never been marked. 'Without marks' refers to: having lost its marks due to faults such as scratching. 'Altered' refers to: making jewels, coins, marked items, ornaments, and containers, etc., from materials such as earth, grass, and stones. Here, according to the Vinaya's distinction, if a monk touches a gold necklace, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. It is said in the Sutra that if a monk touches a grass rope necklace, he commits a Dukkaṭa offense. The Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense of touching gold and silver has been explained. Now, the Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense of using marked items will be discussed. If this offense occurs, what will be the situation? Therefore, it is said that the offense occurs for those who desire gain. Desiring profit itself seeks to obtain, and whatever is desiring and accumulating is desiring gain. For those who cause the offense of desiring gain, this offense is established. Therefore, here it refers to the situation where interest has already been generated, not just obtaining it. It has been shown here that the Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense of using marked items occurs when interest is generated by desiring interest. If oneself
